What a professional and caring experience after being called in to investigate an unusual finding on a mammogram. Super professional staff. Lovely rooms. Everything done to see if there is a cancer or whether it can be ruled out.The process is to talk to a doctor first about why you've been called in. Then a further mammogram, followed by ultrasound. I could not have asked for better service or more information about what they were investigating. Results back from a core biopsy as soon as possible, test on Thursday, results the following Tuesday.Following a positive result you get a show bag of everything you need to know about early stage breast cancer. The whole experience really was exceptional, and it took the fear out of what can be a daunting experience. Thanks everyone!!

When I went last year for tests and scans, I was blown away at how professional, polite and caring all the staff were. I immediately felt reassured that I was in expert hands.

I dont know which centre I called so this is a review of one of them, not necessarily this office. It was not helpful. I live on KI. I missed the notice of the Visiting van back in Dec 2016 (we had not moved here then). The next van is in Dec 2018, and Id like to be notified so I dont miss the notice in the local paper when it comes. Had a frustratingly circular discussion with an Irish lady. Me: Id like to be notified (as I was by BreastScreen Qld) when the van is coming, and also when Im due for a screen. She: Name please? Me: I spelled out my name. She: Well you have to be registered with us. Me: How please can I be registered? She: we send you a letter. Me: Could you send me a letter then? She: No, because youre not registered. (further discussion of this catch22) She: You cannot be registered until youve had an appointment. with the van. Me: could I make an appointment now? She: van not on KI til Dec 2018. Only once every two years. Your appointment would not hold. Me: can I have a reminder then? She: ladies over 76 dont get a letter of reminder. Me: (for 2nd time) But I'm 71. She: Oh. but you are not on the electoral Roll. Me: I am. She: I'll check it. (checks) I cant find your name. Me: Thats ok, I give up.This is pretty well how it went. She was polite, just doggedly unhelpful: the whole conversation never got to anger, just a massive catch 21. Ive got to catch bus, ferry and another coach into adelaide, a cab out to one of the offices, if I want a screen. Breastscreen QLD would have sent me a reminder so I would not have missed my checkup. Why doesnt BrestScreen SA do this? Just a reminder text might be a cheap courtesy. We dont always get the printed local paper.
