Macksville District Hospital

How can you class yourself as an emergency department, 5 hours my son sat waiting for medical treatment then only to be told you can't do an ultrasound so drive to Coffs Hospital. Why does a hospital not have this?

This hospital is fabulous and the care provided to my husband whilst he was in there recently was outstanding. The only section which lets it down is the emergency section. The staff there could show a bit more humanity and understanding. They treated my husband who was there as an outpatient with distain. Was very disappointed with the service they provided.

Couldn't get a appointment at local doctors so I went to the hospital. Short wait to see doctor , easy to talk to about my problem. Friendly staff all round. Very happy with outcome and high praise to everyone.

Thank goodness this hospital is close by for Nambucca Valley and Macksville region . The Macksville Emergency Surgery Team were very fast, thorough ,helpful supportiveThankyou ! all, regarding my partners accident several months ago . The team quickly referred us onto Coffs Specialist Surgeon within 2 hours for further treatments .

Always looked after my whole family really well. I commend the drs and the nurses are just so nice and comforting

I had to visit this emergency unit on the evening of May 22, 2023 and I have never been treated so well. All the staff in particular the amazing nurse from England were thoughtful, kind and thorough. I am so so grateful to them!

My partner was treated in the emergency department yesterday and was taken in and attended to straight away as well as receiving professional care he found the staff to be most genuine and caring. He was only in for a few hours and given IV fluids etc; discharged feeling much better and received a follow up call today from a doctor to check on how he is. Such a lovely caring touch! Thank you a Macksville!

Recently had 2 day surgeries within a month of each other at Macksville Hospital & cannot speak highly enough of the staff from the receptionist to nurses, doctors, all staff involved bar one nurse who clearly lacks empathy & patience, barks at you rather than talks as an equal. I made a mistake, was not hydrated enough, told me this is not going to be good… was left with me feeling the surgery could be put off because of it increasing already anxious state. 3 (roughly done) painful attempts at cannula insertion later (I paid for it). Never had a particular fear previous to this experience. Prior to a procedure most people feel vulnerable & anxious…uncaring, snappy, cold natured staff can cause unnecessary fear in these situations & is not helpful. In saying that, everyone has bad days when they are not at their best & it was particularly busy.With that aside everyone else was so professional, caring, informative, patient…the nurses were so thoughtful & genuinely kind. Second day surgery could not fault anything, best hospital experience I have had, efficient, professional, felt safe & was supported from start to finish, cared for extremely well. If I had a choice I would definitely choose Macksville Hospital over any others within the local area. Hope this info helps someone!

I've just been discharged from MDH.I was there for 2 day with various health issues. I have to say that all of the staff have been wonderful from the Doctors, Nursing staff, Domestics and the Wardsman. I appreciate the efficiency, patience and utter kindness from all of these people.
