Avis Car & Truck Rental Newcastle Airport

This branch provided me with incorrect information regarding drop off at Sydney airport. When I asked to clarify the modified drop off arrangement they assured me this applied to the international airport. Upon calling Avis HQ they confirmed the information I had been supplied at Avis Newcastle Airport was incorrect. The staff failed in their duty to be aware of specific drop off arrangements for their own company branches.

Rented a car from here on the 3rd March 2022 using Qantas points. They then charged me the full fare to my credit card. So I have paid twice for the one rental. It's been a month trying to get my money back but they constantly deny any fault and act all confused for what seems to be a simple mishap. I'm starting to believe they have done this on purpose now. I will never rent from AVIS ever again.

If schedule is tight, you need to have buffer time when you get your rental car here, a bit slow in process.....

Avis personnel are very friendly, professional and helpful. They regularly provide excellent service. I have used many Avis offices around Aus and these guys are by far the best.

It’s a very rare thing to find people who genuinely help when a person is in need. Tracy from the Budget Avis team at Newcastle went so far out of her way to help me when I got very nearly became stuck at Newcastle airport because of flight delays and couldn’t get to my hotel. Tracy made sure I was safely at my hotel very late in the evening. My sincerest thank you, Tracy. What an absolute stunning person you are and a credit to the Avis and Budget teams!

We were in a bit of a pickle with Europcar car hire when Daniel from Avis went above and beyond for us getting a car ready same day. Haven’t had the best start to our trip with rude people so seeing how great Daniels service really made a positive impact on our trip. Thanks for saving the day Daniel.

Car rental was ok. However, I settled my account in full upon renting the car. Few days after I returned the car another amount went out my account again (double paid). I follow-up on this but no response or explanation. Few days after the second amount went off, I receive the first amount back. Issue is I have to pay banking fees on all these amounts + wasn't told about this + cash flow issues as I have to pay double including a double deposit amount+ no authorisation + no warning/ explanation. Also don't understand why o e have to pay a deposit of $200 when pay for zero excess insurance?

Terrible experience. I hired a car and Avis have incorrectly billed my Visa. Been trying to get this corrected for weeks and am just getting the run around from the customer service department. Avoid using Avis here unless you literally have no other option.

The rudest, most unprofessional staff I have experienced before. Young couple in front of us got rejected because of their age even though they had booked and paid for their booking. When we asked if they had any spare cars available as our flight was delayed and original car booking from different company was lost, these guys smirked in our face and said no even though we knew the young couples in front of us could no longer pick up their car. The Avis staff said they had to ‘hold onto their car in case people tomorrow needed them’ even though we were desperate THAT DAY even offering to pay more, Not helpful at all. And clearly had at least one spare car as we witnessed the couple in front.

We were visiting and needed a car hire from eurocar but they were very difficult to work with so Daniel from Avis was very kinda and went above and beyond to help us get a car rental, highly recommended, friendly and lovely staff :)
