There are various markets in Kuranda Village including the Heritage Markets, Original Rainforest Markets and another market leading into the Kuranda Trading Post. All very touristy and of limited interest. Also some other shops and nice cafes.

Kuranda VillageVisited on 15/7/2022Kuranda, according several sources, means Village in the Rainforest. It can be reached by car, by train and Skyrail. After an enjoyable ride in the gondola from Smithfield Skyrail Terminal, we reach the final destination at Kuranda Skyrail Terminal. It is a matter a few minutes walk, we reach the ain street of Kuranda Village,It is a great place to escape from the hassle and bustle of the noisy city. At a higher aktitude, Kuranda Village perched at the top of a rainforest clad mountain, and has cooler climate. There are hotel motel, eateries, coffee bars, art galleries, fashion outlets, and markets. From the Village, visitors can follow and enjoy Village walks, and Barron Gorge NP walks, wander through the rainforest. The Kuranda Railway Station is not far from the main street, and walking further is the Barron River. Boat tours are run regularly on the Barron River, down in the Barron Gorge.

Quirky little village 35 minutes outside of Cairns. Lots of souvenir shopping, food and experiences to enjoy. Sad to have traveled here during the sky rail maintenance period. Will need to return.

We are locals & hadn't been up to Kuranda Village for over two years. Decided to visit on Saturday 25/03/23 for a couple of hours, busy on our arrival around 12:15pm & took a stroll around some shops & market, prices ridiculously high with many shops catering for tourists. we didn't see many nice Cafe's or restaurants with Air/Con. We wouldn't rush back.

What a charming little tourist village, a bit heavy on souvenirs but some good eating at Cafe Suzi made the trip

The place is very hippie and charming. The main attractions are the 3 wildlife parks, a few different markets and cafes. There are some trail going to different places, from easy to moderate. If possible go there between wed-sun, reach kuranda before 1pm, when most markets are open. Prices are reasonable, food prices are the same as in town. You can take the train/skyrail/ drive to go there. If you have been in a cable car and train, it's actually better to drive imho.

Really great meals and service. Great atmosphere, good place to take the family as it has a kids play area. Gaming room is separate so you're not bothered by the pokies if you're not a fan of them. A more casual bar section is nicely set out. Live music on various nights. All round good pub. Gets rather busy, though I can understand why. The food is really good.
