I cannot recommend Jake highly enough. Jake helped me design and then made the most beautiful engagement ring for my (now) wife. He also prepared our gold wedding bands, which we absolutely love.For the engagement ring, I was overseas at the time and was hoping to get an engagement ring prepared within a few weeks so it'd be ready to pick up when I got home. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted, so I emailed Jake some fairly detailed design notes. Jake provided a bit of extra expert advice that improved the design even more, both aesthetically and structurally for durability. He also sourced the exact Aussie sapphire I'd found online, through one of his colleagues down in Sydney. The final product is absolutely stunning. It's exactly what I wanted and my wife says it's the most beautiful thing she's ever owned. And I was super impressed that Jake was able to get it done on my short timeframe, especially since I was overseas throughout the whole process.Then for the wedding bands, Jake was able to do them on a short timeframe as well. They're simple, elegant gold bands, perfect for our taste and made exactly how we requested. When I held my band and compared it to my Dad's which is basically the same size, you can really notice the difference in weight. I think this might be because Jake intensively hand works his jewellery, which makes a big difference to the density and solidness of the final product. I'm no expert, but I think this is quite different to the typical jewellery store chains you get in malls, that might offer to generate 3D designs etc but then send them off to more of a production line where they get set in a cast by a machine rather than being handworked at anywhere near the level Jake does.I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Jake. You absolutely get what you pay for. And especially for locals like me, it's a great feeling to be able to support high quality crafts-folk right in the heart of Newcastle, and get jewellery that we'll treasure for a lifetime in return.
