Pointer Gap Lookout
Didn't make it , road was washed out & getting worse with 2 k to go. Certainly OK in a 4WD or a 2WD company car ,or something you hate ,or just don't care about , but not taking a brand new car i just bought any further. Shame as photos look spectacular.

Great views and interesting vegetation. Very dramatic road. Last bit of road up to the lookout was very rough and rutted, our 2wd Ute had a hard time keeping traction.

Great 160° views towards the coast. The road unfortunately has been washed-out in several sections precluding 2wd vehicles with low clearance from driving all the way in. We walked the last 3kms which was quite steep but we'll worth it. There are facilities and the lookout is fenced for safety.

Nice drive up the mountain. The view was great at 495m above sea level.

The road leading up to Pointer Gap lookout is narrow on the mountain, some burnt trees fallen on the sides of roadway here and there so care must be taken. Also advisable to sit well below speed limit in case you encounter a vehicle coming the opposite way, as there are no guard rails off the steep side.At the lookout there is a small gravel parking area with disabled access pathway to the viewing platform which is a 135 metre walk.Well worth a visit for the spectacular views of Jervis Bay to Birrell Lake.Bring water as there is no drinking water up there.A couple of covered tables for picnickers if your hungry.

Really nice lookout. There is a narrow road, some parts are dirt and have been washed out. This road is not appropriate for all vehicles.

Pointer Gap Lookout
A stunning lookout with panoramic views, a scenic drive up and nice picnics area. As other reviews have noted it is optimistic to call this 2WD suitable. While the official advice from NSW Parks and Wildlife remains that it is 2WD suitable, and it seems much more of the road has been sealed, there are small sections that have substantial erosion making it hazardous to drive in less than a 4WD. My vehicle sustained some underside damage on one of these sections. Strongly advise to go slow and make sure your carrying some food and water. There’s good mobile signal on Telstra at least if you get into bother.

Really nice lookout with wide viewing platform. An under cover picnic table is available but no toilets. There is a bit of dirt road to get here and its very narrow so need to be very careful. We got there on a wet and foggy day and road was very difficult. Almost not suitable unless 4x4. The walking platform is also very nice with surrounding trees.
