A cosy, relaxed pub. Lovely way to end a day adventuring around. Run by some very friendly people who got me onto some great local wines. Highly recommend the parma and burger for food.

Lovely pub and very friendly people.

A quiet local pub right opposite from the pool and free campsite. Good for a cold beer after a long drive.

We stayed in one of the two cabins out the back for a couple of days, which alas coincided whilst the pub itself was closed. The rooms were thoroughly appointed with a fridge, kettle, microwave plus nice plates, cups and cutlery. A range of tea plus sugar and milk (and I think there was coffee, was not paying attention). There was aircon, which was not needed, and a new tv along with nice bedlinen and towels. There was a long verandah with a tables and a couple chairs for our cabin, and the verandah and bathroom was shared by the cabin next door. In summary, it was a lovely quiet spot for a few days away during these tense Covid times. We used Hawkesdale as a hub to visit Port Fairy and Hamilton. Very much appreciated that we could bring our dog (house trained) and her bedding. Rebecca and Pieter were lovely to chat to on the handful of times that we spoke in the crazy Covid times. Looking forward to visiting again, having a meal at the pub and seeing the long running renovation plans come to fruition for the pub, accomodation and gardens.

Pub is just reopening in a limited capacity with major renovations underway, but Pete and Rebecca are doing an awesome job. Great selection of local wines, craft pilsener beer on tap, plus a range of bottled beer and spirits. A limited meal range until the kitchen is fully renovated but good food. Good atmosphere in the bar and dining room, there is a pool room and there was live music on the night we visited. Well worth a visit, currently only open Friday and Saturday nights 5pm to midnight.
