Aurora Hair

As a first time customer, my salon experience within Aurora Hair was not what I expected. Pricing needs to be consistent, a quote is a quote! I'm not really interested in hearing about having to pay wages to staff, how expensive the hair products being used are, being sued legally if the process is not followed or being spoken down to. A salon is where we go to have a boost, I left in tears! I won't be returning ever again!

Danielle saved my hair from a horrible haircut a week prior. Super lovely and would definitely trust again.

Have been going to Danielle at Aurora hair for years. Have never left with a bad hair cut or colour. Would recomend this place to anyone.

5 stars for the cut! I’ve been here twice for a cut and both times, amazing job. The ladies ask lots of questions and make sure you’re happy before you leave, and if you’re not they fix it.I thought this would be my regular salon but won’t return. 2 stars for colour. I got a half head of foils. The girl was really nice but had trouble understanding what I wanted. I wanted the foils to blend in with my natural colour and not dye the roots so regrowth wasn’t obvious. Instead she didn’t dye any of the top layers of hair so now my hair looks like a cheap job. Weird and inexperienced choice. The whole top layer of hair is natural colour but the under layers are a totally different colour. Looks weird when I move my hair or put it up and will need to get it fixed.

The salon is nice. Good basin and comfy chairs for washing. However the young stylist that did my blowdry clearly didn't know what she was doing. I have curly hair. She had only done one other curly haired person before me. Needless to say my hairstyle didn't last 5 minutes out in the elements of Wollongong. It was a waste of $40.

What a horrible experience. I went in for a Goldwell Kerasilk Keratin Smoothing treatment and nothing went right. The stylist was extraordinarily rough with my hair, snapping it off so now it’s uneven and my scalp was raw red from her smashing brushes, combs and her fingers into my head. The treatment wasn’t applied properly as per goldwell standards and the stylist never checked what I was after in terms of control and smoothing. Multiple times I had to ask her to dry the hair underneath as it was still soaking wet and she was annoyed by this request. To add salt to the wound the stylist insulted the colour of my hair (intentionally I am growing out a colour) saying that “even a box dye from the supermarket would look better”. From all of her errors the treatment didn’t take properly and now I am out of pocket for hair that is worse than when I went in.Aftercare information was not provided either, resulting in me having to chase down my own information.When I approached the manager to discuss the issue she seemed disgruntled that anyone had the audacity to provide negative feedback and all she offered was a new blow dry to make it good for the day. When I got home I realised how swindled I had been and tried to request a refund and again the manager was rude and unapologetic for the errors made by her staff.I’ve now had to contact consumer affairs and goldwell to alert both to the horrible service that I received in attempt to get my money back.Anyone who loves their hair do not go here, you’ll walk out worse than when you entered!

I was so happy with Aurora Hair, I called in last minute and they were extremely welcoming and inviting. The ladies are fun to talk to and set a comfortable atmosphere, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, they also done a really good job with the kerasilk keratin smoothing treatment on my friend, her hair was smooth and we could all notice a difference. I myself got my hair styled and loved the results.

Very happy to have found this place after moving to the Gong. Great haircut at a very reasonable price for the time and energy the hair dressers spends on you. If you are lucky you might have the company of the owners's absolutely adorable baby boy too :)
