Wangaratta Art Gallery

Attended to see Tom Roberts Exhibition which was fantastic. But very poor lighting.Which does not meet OHS requirements especially for older people wishing to attend.

Shows are always well curated and interesting. Make sure you also visit gallery 2 which is at the rear of the main gallery.

We visited the gallery during a textile exhibition. The place and the collection are both small in size but the creativity and inspiration are valuable. My daughter loves it.

Great place to see local art. Not the biggest art gallery I've been to but nice all the same.

A small gallery with (what appears to be) regularly changing interesting exhibit. When we were there, it was a photo exhibition of outback Australia. We enjoyed that. The building itself is very interesting and pretty well. Worth a visit.

I went for the opening night of an exhibition and it was honestly one of the best experiences ever. There was small amounts of food and drinks. There were so many people including the artists and a guest speaker from Victorian College of the Arts. I'm definitely going to every gallery opening here from now on. Not only is the art show stopping but the atmosphere and opportunities to be found there are endless. The gallery always makes me feel very inspired.

There’s a small but strong arts and culture precinct on the edge of the CBD, anchored by the modern Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre and the regional gallery, which opened at this striking heritage building in 1987. This is a former Presbyterian church, completed in 1899 and eventually sold off in the 1980s.Since the 2000s the gallery has assembled a noted collection, focusing on textile art, works in wood, small sculpture, pieces relating to north-east Victoria and works by artists of state and national importance.The collection isn’t on permanent display, but selections are put on show at regular intervals, along with travelling exhibitions.The gallery also plays host to the Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award, the only prize of its kind in Australia.

Normally art galleries can be a hit or miss affair. Check out the gallery behind the main one. Sensational.

Great textiles exhibition, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Love my visit and coffee just next door.
