We did not stay at the house, but the house is stunning. You can have a wander around the beautifully set up rooms. We had the most amazing coffee and scones whilst sitting on the verandah overlooking the mine.

All facilities we needed but the peace and serenity was the best. The location above the mine was spectacular. The museums really interesting as we were doing the Gold Rush self drive tour. BBQ for dinner each night simple and the noise from the mine was only audible if we were out the front. We loved every minute of the tranquil house accommodation.

This was the absolute highlight of our trip through the goldfields and that is saying something as there are so many wonderful places to see and explore.Hoover House and the Gwalis Museum are packed with history, charm and a wonderful ambaince. We visited many years ago and didn't stay the night and have always regretted it, so on this trip there was NO WAY we were going to miss out.For us this was a 'bucket list' item and I am so glad we did it!The house and surrounds are so opulent and lush compared to the rather stark landscape that surrounds them. The contrast is mind blowing and I highly recomment it experience to EVERYONE!

It was a nice experience for sure. The best is having a mine in your backyard. The room is confortable. The house also works as a museum and cafe from 10am to 4 pm (after that they close and only people staying there have access).Breakfast was a bit disappointing (toasts, cereal and juice, all left in the fridge so you prepare in the morning). They serve delicious scones in the cafe, so I think they could at least provide some leftovers for breakky.1 night is more than enough.

Really enjoyed our stay. The Hoover room was very comfortable and clean. The whole complex is beautifully presented and maintained. The service was excellent. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The morning teas and light lunches were yummy! Would highly recommend a stay here.

A beautiful and historic home built by Herbert Hoover who was the engineer for the Egwalia Gold Mine. He also designed the House. Recent restoration sees this property now as a B & B. But it also serves excellent Coffee n Scones. Sit on the verandah overlooking the Mine Pit.

We booked the whole of Hoover House B&B and hosted a team Sundowner on the verandah overlooking the beautiful gardens and the pit. It was a wonderful experience. The staff were helpful and supportive, the venue was gorgeous and everything we needed and more was made available to us. We took all our own food/drink supplies and paid extra for the use of the barbecue facilities and outdoor seating areas. Would highly recommend.

I came up to Gwalia to work on research that a colleague and I began in 2006. At the time, we stayed at Hoover House and very much enjoyed our stays there. I am very pleased to say that the standard of accommodation and service has not diminished; indeed, it might be said to have improved with the addition of the cafe service (great coffee) and the facilities in the museum building. The Shire and staff are also to be congratulated on the fact that the displays in the museum include people (and their stories) - it all adds to the understanding that this was a place where people lived and worked.I have just returned to Perth after a second trip to complete my research. The staff were, again, unfailingly helpful, cheerful and the standard of service and facilities were first class. I am looking forward to coming back next year as a regular visitor on holidays.

Donation entry and very well worth the visit to learn about the links between the future President of the United States and Australia. So much history and memorabilia over the huge site on the top of the hill. Easy access for vehicles even with a van in tow. Caravaners (self contained) are able to stay overnight in the large well marked out area set aside for them

An amazing experience. We stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed ourselves. The other guests were diverse and interesting and all very friendly. Staff were helpful and efficient. The fact that this beautiful old homestead is perched right on the edge of a working mine just blew our minds! The museum has been arranged beautifully. The old townsite of Gwalia has been so well restored. The hardships of the old times just cannot even be imagined. A very interesting place, and worth a visit if not an overnight stay.
