Came for an anniversary dinner. Food is divine! I am a picky eater and I cannot believe I devoured each dish we ordered. Full of flavour, great technique, fresh and fine quality ingredients. Cannot wait to come back!

Food was really tasty at an affordable price. We went for the Feed me 2" course ($69 pp). The courses were beautifully presented and the staff were very attentive

Pretty damn hard to fault. Cosy ambiance in a renovated old home. Service staff super friendly, in fact I'd seen them before at Debutant and they remembered me and my drinking preference (rum). Asian vibes were definitely prominent but in a way my western palate really enjoyed. The pork and fish salad was ridiculous. The caramel and fresh herbs. Omg.

Very impressed by this place. In an unassuming old house on the main street, the interior is whitewashed with black chairs. Very cosy interior. As to the food, we had a set 5-course menu and every dish was excellent. Sashimi and crispy skin pork were the highlights. Some of the dishes are pretty spicy if that's an issue for you, although I'm sure they could modify that. Highly recommended and will eat here again. It's not cheap but the quality is worth the price in my view.

Went for the banquet 1 option, and for $110 each, we got 7 meals which were basically a piece of meat with one or two vegetables. The quail was in chicken sauce, and not just sauce that’s designed for chickens and is named chicken sauce, but it literally tastes like chicken. Weird. Also they charged extra for still water with no forewarning, $5 a bottle (we suspect the bottle is filled from the tap anyway). Desert was also not included. Palate cleansers and other fine dining experiences were missing. Between each dish our plates were not changed, the plates and cutlery was only changed once or twice, so the flavours could become quite mixed.Overall a nice experience, but wouldn’t recommend the banquet option. The cocktails were decent. There’s no art on the walls, the bathroom was worse than average restaurants, and there’s lots of cobwebs on their sign outside.

*Not Halal Anymore Sadly* - EDIT - So we decided to go to sibling restaurant nowadays at Debutant =)Rookie Eatery is described contemporary Australian cuisine. I'm glad they are here at the Gong as we can't always travel to Sydney.Food/flavours: Impressed with the flavour profile. Fresh ingredients. Neat presentations. Prawn ravioli tasted great with the sauce, pasta felt slightly chewy.Mains were a hit.Salad was delicious.Dessert are always subjective.Service: Attentive and professional.Price: Fine dining price...

Service was fine but not professional, food lack inspiration which lacked balance. For the cost I'd expect higher standards. Not the Rookie it once was.

It was fine. Service was pretty slow even though we came at the tail end of the evening as the final seating. No-one asked us about drinks until quite well in. Menu wasn't marked particularly well for gluten free, menu items were out and the substitutions weren't ideal. The decor was pretty drab. All things that would be totally redeemable or endearing at a place that wasn't trying to hit the white tablecloth demographic and at $60 mains. Those restaurants are held to a higher standard and Rookie was very mediocre. The dessert though was a surprising dark horse. Yuzu curd with coconut Panna Cotta is amazing.

Entrees were great as were the desserts. Main meals were average. Pork was dry. Beef needed more sauce. Griffins service was amazing!

Had high expectations reading all these good reviews but honestly the food was disappointing. We ordered the Banquet Menu 1 and I hate to say it but the food was not well flavoured, the dishes were not cohesive and it was definitely not worth the price we paid. Although it is fine dining restaurant, a $110 per person banquet menu should serve portion sizes for 2 people… not just 1. Please keep this in mind and spend your money elsewhere.
