The one star is for the great location by the Richmond River and 100+ year old Moreton Bay Fig Tree out the back.Despite being right next to the river, you won't find a single piece of fresh seafood on the menu. Everything (bar the salad) is straight from the freezer.Inside needs a complete renovation, which hasn't been redone since the late 80s. Ceiling panels missing, beer garden is just a hopeless assortment of different furniture, and the carpet hides a few different levels of concrete. Pokie den is hidden away off in one corner, which is a bonus.The flies only found us half way through the meal.The place has great potential, but with Wardell being such a small place, it's probably not worth upgrading for the publicans. She's a proper old pub, but has just been bandaged and bandaged for the last few decades.This is more of a watering hole than somewhere to eat - you get the impression that there are more bottle sales and pokies played than meals served.Even then, be sure to order the popular drinks. The diet coke I had tasted like water, and was poured from a can which was obviously out of date.On the upside, there is loads of parking!

Easily the worst pub on the far north coast. Apparently it doesn't meet fire service safety codes for starters. It doesnt open till 12 pm, no counter lunches, it's run down, dirty, almost empty most hours of the day and obviously the publican hasn't a clue.It didn't use to be like that though. It was once a thriving village pub situated right on the river with a boat ramp, beer garden and great social scene.Such a shame

Took friends down for drinks and free sausage sizzle.! (That was advertised) ,no sausage sizzle but, skip Sunday.

Modern pub which has been completely renovated. Great for the punters. Dogs are always on and the people you meet in there are wonderful.

Gigged here a couple of times a couple of years back and always had a great time with the locals !! They made us feel like family. The pub is old but the position is gold !! Right on the water and now with the new Highway that bypasses Wardell.. it’s peaceful at last !!! Love having a beer out the back.Our dog was allowed to be there out the back.. and just the other day we called in for one and made friends with bike riding Milo the dog who took to me like a fish in water !!

Avoid at all costs. Ballina is 10 mins up the road, go there for a better experience.

Dirty, bad management, such a shame, someone should by it and make it lovely as the location is gorgeous on the river with a huge old fig. Feel sorry for the poor bar maids!

Poor atmosphere a lot of people playing card games not a nuff drinkers
