Mark Jansen Guitar Studio

After playing a bit of guitar as a kid (then promptly forgetting everything I had learnt, when I dusted it off as an adult) I started taking lessons with Mark early 2021. It's been an awesome decision.The online format works really well for me, in particular I like being able to record lessons and refer back to them during the week. It's also nice to connect in person when he occasionally visits Hamilton.Mark is warm, engaging and makes lessons really fun. I look forward to them each week and can feel that I'm building a strong foundation. He's pushed me to start singing, and while I find it challenging I appreciate the push and the extra dimension it adds to my guitar playing.Thankyou Mark!

I have been Mark's guitar student now for over 6 years, and he is a truly amazing teacher. It is a one on one lesson with him, which is really nice. Before I found mark all the other lessons I had looked into were in groups with other students. Mark has been my one and only guitar teacher, and still is till this day. over online lessons now but was in his studio back in Nelson. I highly recommend mark,and would recommend him to anyone who is looking into starting guitar lessons, as his teaching style is really good for beginners and people more advanced. He has a really good sense of humor and makes guitar lessons really fun, I always look forward to my lessons with mark, as I come out a happier person than I went in.

I have been having lessons with Mark for just over a year and definitely are not naturally talented his teaching method is amazing he has a way of understanding how you learn as an individual. I am 5 months into my guitar journey and loving learning from Mark. Doing something as a complete novice as a 40 year old male was a bit daunting to begin with, but Mark's calm, supportive and systematic approach has been just what I needed to get me going. He finds ways to challenge me every week (singing has been a big one!) but there is a reason for everything he does and the results speak for themselves. I am sure that I will be playing like Jimi Hendrix in no time!I wish I had started 20 years ago!

I would recommend lessons with Mark to anyone looking for a new guitar teacher or wanting to start learning guitar. He is a great teacher with a good teaching style that everyone would enjoy and he is good for anyone from beginner to more advanced.

I'm and older student of the guitar who has struggled for many years to even play a whole song. I was on the point of giving up when I contacted Mark. Eureka!! Mark's systematic and supportive approach to learning has saved me - not only am I playing songs but I'm even singing ...omgoodness!! I have been taking weekly one on one lessons with Mark for approximately 9 months now, and can honestly say it's been one of the best investments in my personal development that I have ever made.Prior to my lessons with Mark, I had gone through several stages of self instruction using online videos, and while I did pick up some good skills I was never able to stay consistent.Once I started taking lessons with Mark I could see a clear progression and found that the personal instruction kept me accountable and consistent in my learning. I'm mastering new chords and strumming patterns more easily. Mark is quick to correct any bad habits that I may be developing, so that I can quickly correct course and progress.I particularly enjoy Mark's calm, friendly and systematic approach, and sense of humor.Highly recommended, suggest you take a trial lesson with him before he is fully booked up!
