Karawatha Cottages

Absolutely amazing place. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. The cottage was spotless with beautiful touches. We were greeted with a welcome basket full of goodies - from fresh bread, granola and little chocolates to eggs and bacon in the fridge for breakfast. We will definitely stay there again. We recommend this place to anyone wanting home away from home. You don’t find those places very often- it’s a gem :-)

We absolutely adored our three night stay in the Ponder cottage. The space was much larger than it appeared in photos and Georg was more than happy to accomodate our little one for the stay. Location wise, perfect. Nestled amongst some of the best wineries in the area but peaceful enough to unwind on the deck after a long day, we even spotted a couple of kangaroos go past. The provisions were more than adequate and the local recommendations exquisite. We highly recommend checking out the fantastic winery next door at Geddes, definitely value to be had in their wines that punch well above their price point. Thanks again, we look forward to hopefully returning soon.

We had a beautifully relaxing stay at Karawatha Cottages in McLaren Vale. The cabin was beautifully presented, super clean warm and comfy with a delicious basket of goodies for breakfast and beyond - and all in a delightfully peaceful and beautiful setting. Thank you!

We recently enjoyed a fantastic stay at Karawatha Cottages. Lovely provisions provided, warm and cosy cottage, comfortable bed and excellent shower. The gardens, watching the birds and the serenity of the property, along with the location, made our stay most enjoyable.

Incredible home away from home. Perfect place to unwind and drink some wine. Georg and Friederike are lovely, and extremely helpful hosts with extensive local knowledge that they are happy to share. The breakfast provisions were of high quality and more than sufficient for our stay. We would recommend Karawatha to anyone visiting McLaren Vale.

We absolutely loved our two nights at Karawatha and would not even think about staying anywhere else when we return to the McLaren Vale! Georg and Friederike are warm and generous hosts, and Ponder, our cottage, was spacious, clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the plentiful gourmet breakfast supplies and the complimentary bottle of Geddes wine from the neighboring vineyard as we soaked up the gorgeous views. Georg organised a walking trail tour for us, including lunch at The Currant Shed, and it was my favourite day during our entire time in South Australia.

Simply fantastic. The accommodation units are beautifully presented and very comfortable. Delightful bedrooms and modern bathrooms. The best part was having a fireplace that was ready to go both nights. Beautiful outlook with autumn colours, viewed through the bottom of a wine glass. The breakfast pack was amazing with ample fresh produce, and the complimentary bottle of red much appreciated. Clean, warm and very welcoming. You can't ask for any more. Great hosts.

We had a lovely stay for our wedding night! A koala was perched on the gumtree near our cottage. The beds were so comfortable. The pantry fully stocked and the check in process was effortless. Georg was so personable and the gardens were so well maintained. It’s such a relaxing setting. Amazing views from the balcony!

Karawatha Cottages (Relish) was the perfect place to stay in McLaren Vale. The owners / hosts, Georg & Friederike were excellent and had gone beyond to make our stay as home-like as possible.Firstly, the cottage was spacious, well-designed, contemporary and very comfortable. The cir-conditioning was very welcomed on the 38 -41 degree days. The provisions were exceptional with home-baked gluten-free bread, home-made jam from fruit on their trees and ample everyday condiments such as olive oil, seasonings. There were generous quantities of cutlery, crockery and bakeware to only need to run the dishwasher every few days. There were alsoample local products provided.The front deck overlooked the vineyards which was the perfect place to have a leisurely breakfast (home-made granola) and a glass or two of wine each night.Georg was very helpful in recommending drives and interesting places to visit.The offer of packing up and sending our bottles of wine collected over the few days wasvery helpful!We could not recommend Karawatha Cottages highly enough and we look forward to re-visiting one day when we return. You will love it!
