This is a fine dining restaurant experience my husband and I enjoyed while staying at the wildlife retreat. The staff were very accommodating and quick to get our food out. With great harbor views and quality, local food, I would recommend giving it a try while staying at Taronga.

The views were spectacular, the atmosphere was fine, the food was very average. We went for a family birthday dinner and figured a view back into the city would be a nice change. The sunset over the harbour bridge was spectacular and Me-Gal views did not disappoint. The cocktails (Tazzie devil, and Rose and Ella) were both very good. For appetisers we got watermelon and feta salad, burrata, and chips and dip. These were all considered medium dishes, but I’m not sure they would have filled a sparrow at breakfast. The chips and dip tasted great but the dip was a beet salad which was far too heavy for the wispy little cracker chips we got on top. The menu said the burrata could come gluten free but all that meant was we were served a cold ball of cheese with nothing to dip or eat it with.We ordered the lamb and the calamari as mains from the large dishes menu. The calamari was very nice but was more the size we had expected of the medium dishes. The lamb was huge and is designed for 2-3 people (although I think 4 could easily have shared). It was beautifully cooked but unfortunately had lemon juice and lemon myrtle all over the top, which was very tangy and did not balance in the dish. The side salad of mixed greens and pears was also nearly inedible due to the excessive lemon juice all over the fruit. The side of potatoes were great and well cooked but came with olive tapenade, which absolutely did not suit, and 2 of us bit into an olive pit. It felt like the dishes lacked a cohesive theme or flavour and did not balance throughout the meal. The restaurant is beautifully designed inside and the decor is fresh and looks sustainable. I was surprised at the number of very young children who screamed their way through dinner and changed the vibe of a place trying to market themselves as upscale dining (and priced as such). We had an enjoyable evening but will not return and would not list this as a must do experience in Sydney.

The Me-Gal Restaurant is set up for fine dining at night and the hotel breakfast buffet in the morning. We enjoyed a dinner at Me-Gal. Food is expensive with only a 2 course or 3 course option available at $100 and $120 per person respectively. There was a large wine selection.I liked the pan seared scallops which were presented beautifully, but my steak had a fair bit of gristle. I think the cheese platter presentation needs a bit more thought as it did not match the elegance of the rest of the meal's plating.Having the kitchen area outside on the dining floor detracts from the fine dining atmosphere. During our meal we could hear the chef yelling for servers to come get food. And I know from working in hospitality that the chef was relatively quiet!

Service was excellent, food was great and the view was stunning. Is it a bit pricey? Maybe but if the funds go towards supporting Taronga Zoo, it is worth it. Love that the menu uses local ingredients.

The view is nothing short of specular. Food was very good without being great. Prices are pretty exy. Waitress was very attentive. There were very few diners for lunch but I believe dinners are extremely busy - probably because of Vivid. Amazing spot for that!!

Totally fabulous! For a birthday celebration, the set menu for our large group was all delicious with generous shared plates and catering to our mix of dietary requirements. We had a magnificent view, great wines and very friendly and helpful service. Will be back soon.

Wow! A spectacular venue for a special dinner. Food was amazing and so was accompanying drinks. View of Sydney Harbour was stunning; probably one of the best locations in Sydney. Lovely ambience. Staff were amazing. Will be back again.

One of the poorest experiences one could experience. Staff continuously kept forgetting what we ordered - one waiter tried to bring our dessert before we had our mains. The prawns were burnt and not cooked well. We got asked if we wanted butter with the bread which never came….. such a great spot but this is purely a tourist focused hotel and very little to offer in terms of food quality and service. They asked us privately for a review where I shared our experience but no follow up to such a terrible evening.

Generic copy and paste reply notedSaturday night dinner. We were hoping for a fine dining experience but found the food and service lacking. Examples includeDrinks, bread and Food arrived about 5 minutes after ordering suggesting pre-made. We sent the sourdough back as it was stale although they still tried to charge us for it, the salad literally had one chopped pecan, the side potatoes had a single chopped green olive trying to pass itself off as tapenade. Waitress really didn't try to engage at all felt like they were trying to get us out quickly didn't offer tea or coffee. The is a strong odor of fish which permeates the whole restaurant. There were a few babies which we could hear and detracted from a fine dining experiences. They took 5% off our bill after we said it was pretty underwhelming for what we thought would be a fine dining experience which was a nice gesture but it felt more like a hotel restaurant than a 5 star restaurant.

Fantastic location and specular views of the habour, bridge and opera house, this should be a 5 star and international standard restrurantI clearly understand that post covid most restaurants are having issues with the recruitment of trained and competent staffThat said this is the worst performing service staff I have ever encountered - wrong dishes to the table, consistently interrupting conversations - 3 times in less than 10 mins wanting to take orders for additional drinks, food and feedback - was non stop, like they were programmed or KPIecNow the food was nice without bring great and certainly not value for moneyGo for the views and that it’s … just low your expectation based upon location and price point
