Hotel Frangos

It used to be a great place to have a meal in Daylesford, don't bother. The menu, food, service and atmosphere have all downgraded. It was barely shopping centre food court quality at restaurant prices.

Very underwhelming dishes, very over priced for the quality of food received. Snapper was presented poorly (in a bowl), was very thin and over cooked. My partner had lamb chops (served 2 pieces for$38) and was over cooked. The side dishes tasted better than the mains. The side of green vegetable was very good. the green salad was literally mixed lettuce that you could've bought from a supermarket.For two mains, two sides and two drinks, it was over $130. I would have complained about the quality even if it was half the price. Venue is lovely and service was fine. Overall, not worth it!!

Great location. The rooms are not efficiently designed. The closet is in a bad location. There was a giant painting above our head in the bed and the base was close enough to hit our heads if we sat up too quick. The toilet is located right in front of the shower so water from the shower can pool at your feet if you're on the toilet. The bath tub was nice and roomy, loved that. The TV mounted on the wall as not in a good spot, it was off center but e didn't use it. The best part of the film was the bed, it was amazingly comfortable. The booking was another thing, read the fine print, 50% up front and the balance paid BEFORE you arrive. That's not standard practice at most places I've been. The location though, is hard to pass on but I wouldn't really book it again unfortunately, they need to work on the room layouts

Just went here for lunch so not sure about accommodation. Front of house staff are awesome. The food was great, once it came. We were here on a busy weekend - Easter Saturday - and there was a pretty long wait on the food, which was fair but just wasn't expected to be quite so long. The FOH staff were doing their best to keep everyone happy, but obviously there is only so much in their control. Seems like for a busy weekend maybe the kitchen just needed a few more staff to help with the rush. Overall a nice place - just would be worthwhile sorting out that particular speed bump to make things run more smoothly during a busy time.

RESTAURANT. Booked a couple of days in advance. Entered a slick looking empty space, save for one family whose normal conversation reverberated annoyingly. Wandered around in full view of the hotel receptionist who glanced up indifferently, clearly knowing we were lost. We waited for the maitre d or some kind of 'front of house' person to emerge. They never did. My partner eventually asked the hotel desk man where everyone was,. He curtly directed us through a corridor (where the toilets were), and into what we knew to be the daytime coffee shop. Then began an experience which we will not be foolish enough to repeat. Flat bubbles, garlic pizza" entree where garlic seemed absent

We walked in and got a table straight away, the gentleman who greeted us gave us the menus and said, you can order on line by clicking on the bar code or someone will be with you soon. That was the last time we had interaction with the wait staff. We had to ask for water and drinks. It was very busy so I thought I'd order on line. 30 minutes later still no sign of our food, the 2 waitresses I asked they said they were looking into it. Food finally comes out, the best bit about our chips was the Aioli Sauce, you could taste the oil. From a fish n chip owner, it meant the oil hadn't been changed a while, when the potato pizza came out, there was more spanish onion on the pizza than potatoe. I love Daylesford, but this place made it unpleasant. Next time we will definitely support a smaller business who take pride on customers and food.

During my recent visit to this town, I decided to stop by this hotel/cafe and grab their takeaway bacon and roll before heading back to Melbourne.Despite my initial surprise at the price of $54 for three of those, I must say that the burger was delectable, and the avocado serving was quite generous, which added to the overall experience.However, the service could have been friendlier, and I didn't even make an issue of the price, given the rush myself and friends were in.While waiting for our meals, the hotel's ambience was pleasant and added to our overall experience.I feel the hotel/cafe could justify their prices with such high-quality food and an inviting environment if they stepped up their customer service. With a little more attention to customer satisfaction, they could quickly become a go-to destination for people looking for delicious food and excellent service.Overall, I enjoyed my simple dish and believe that with such a great burger, their other menu items must be equally good. If you're ever in the area, I recommend giving them a try, and maybe their customer service will be better when you visit!

My family and myself decided to come to this place to eat on Mother’s Day, we assumed it was a good restaurant due to how it was presented but we were wrong. We waited for 1 hour to receive the first meal, every meal after that was 25 mins apart, we asked numerous times about to whereabouts of the kids meals as they were getting hungry from waiting 2 hours but the staff gave false hope and waited until the last meal that there was no stock available to make the kids meals, they didn’t attempt to tell us early, the service was so poor and disappointing that we had to argue about how wrong it was not to provide alternatives for the kids meals, had to leave after paying so much for tasteless food that was cold.

Similar to others. Passing through on way to our new property in the area, and grabbed what was hoped to be a quick bite. Sad about this in a way, as this could have been weekly stop for our family. It wasn’t overly busy but we still waited almost an hour for a pizzas. Didn’t find it to be the cleanest of places. Toilets really poor facilities for a place of this size. Some staff we came across very impatient and bothered, though some were more friendly. If outside, you order through the app from a QR code (and get promoted to leave a service tip!) You’ll then also get stung a weekend surcharge at the last minute AND then you’ll get stung a card surcharge! (Can I shove cash through the app on my phone? - No) This is simply capitalising on visitors situation and timing. Perhaps would be considered justifiable if the facilities, food, staff and service matched. Poor model, doesn’t work and has deterred us from returning.

Terrible food, arrived cold, bacon was terrible and cold, like cardboard. Could not cut the bread, it was sour dough but never had sour dough that tough. No chance of cutting it with knife. Coffee was excellent. Not worth wasting time or money to go there.
