Unicorn Accountants

One of the worst experiences I've had with an accountant and I would have been better off going to one of the big franchise companies.I engaged Mr. Darko in May 2016. I had been overseas for a significant period of time and needed a number of tax returns completed. I supplied all documents in a nice PDF format and folders of years to make things easier.There was a lot of back and forth communications and Mr. Darko would not accept my explanation for a lot of items. I agree my taxes were a little complex but should not have been a problem for an experienced accountant. By August 2016 we were in agreement and, as far as I was aware, all tax returns were lodged.In January 2017 I received a reply from the ATO for some of the tax returns and I was under the belief that the ATO was still working on the rest.In June 2017 I received a response from the ATO for that last tax return with a very nasty fine due to late submission.After contacting the ATO I was informed that the first batch of tax returns were lodged in December 2016 and the final one was submitted June 2017, over nine months after we had signed and agreed on all tax returns!I've tried contacting Mr. Darko to find out what happened without any response. To say I'm upset is an understatement and now I have to take further action with the ATO without the help of Mr. Darko.If I could have given zero stars I would have. If you are an individual wanting your tax done then go to someone else as I think he is more concerned with corporate clients, but that is just my opinion.
