Inner West Council – Leichhardt Service Centre

Sandy from the Leichhardt branch is a bloody legend. She helped me out with some payments I had to make for a DA. Very helpful and explained everything very clearly and thoroughly. Was out of there in under half an hour.

I have lived in many different municipalities including Canada Bay, Waverly, Randwick and now Inner West (Leichhardt). The parking rangers and anyone that's making parking related decisions in Leichhardt need to get a grip. The suburb is dead.... Businesses are dead.... no one wants to come out to visit Leichhardt or run a business in leicharddt but parking rangers will issue you a fine within seconds of you parking there even before you have a chance to get a ticket. I even got fined when I had a ticket displayed last night (the final straw which made me type this).... Why are the council and the rangers killing Leichhardt? Parking in Clovelly and Coogee is free - they are iconic/scenic places that plenty more people frequently visit than Leichhardt especially in Summer.... what is so special about Leichhardt and surrounding streets that the council and rangers believe requires strict parking control and fining of people who are visiting to support local businesses? I can go to the beach in Clovelly or Coogee all day without a parking ticket, but can't go down to eat chinese or grab a coffee from the local without paying for parking and/or getting a fine.GET A GRIP AND FIX LEICHHARDT.... STOP PUSHING PEOPLE AWAY... ACT IN THE INTERESTS OF PEOPLE IN LEICHHARDT BUSINESS AND HOMES HAVE LOST VALUE BECAUSE OF YOUR SILLY PARKING POLICIES. INSTEAD LEICHHARDT INTERESTED IN BANNING DRONES AND OTHER INSIGNIFICANT POLICIES THAT OTHER SURROUNDING COUNCILS DON'T EVEN WASTE TIME ON

Complaints get no response. If you follow up with a ticket number you just get another ticket number, or switched to an internal extension that never picks up or responds to voice messages. I and my insurance company chased them for 11 months over having my parked car rear-ended by a council garbage truck. Ended up having to scrap my car. I think the only way to get anything done with them is to make complaints through your state MP.

The online thorn to renew my parking permit was very confusing. I went to the council offices on Wetherill Street ; they were polite, fast and efficient! They replaced my visitor permit also which I had lost.

I HAVE BEEN ON THE PHONE FOR AN HOUR . No one there. Long lunch?Spoke to Council worker in Mort Bay Park this morning. It seems that we are getting better lighting at the expense of several large trees. WE DO NOT WANT BETTER LIGHTING. WE WANT MORE TREES. Shade is of the essence. Furthermore, grass seems to grow better in the shade.Should any trees be cut down without community consultation., you will have a riot on your hands.

Leichhardt Council has killed off local businesses on Norton Street with their parking meters. I used to frequent many shops on the street before parking meters, but now find it too difficult due to financial penalty just to park. I now shop in other Council areas like Randwick and Haberfield that have the wisdom and insight to keep their local businesses viable and easily accessable to local businesses. My prediction for Leichhardt, local businesses will continue to close and vacancy rate, currently at 10% will continue to climb. This vacancy rate well above the norm. documents a Council with a failing (F) grade for operations and performance.

In the one month time, I sent about 8 e-mails, called about 4-5 times to get a ranger to come in front of my house. There is always issues with parking, it's limited to 2 hours but people park here all day, even for a few days all day long. Finally after 1 month I meet a lady ranger from Inner West council in Leichhardt. Literally 2 minutes walk from my house, I ask her very nicely if she can check my street as there are at least 6 cars parking illegally. Her answer was It's not my problem

Trying to get a council trimmed for my 91 year old father. The tree is well into his property and dropping tiny leaves which he slips on. I am not permitted to touch the tree. It’s ok for my father to fall and break something because the tree is sacred. While waiting for someone to answer the phone I heard an announcement that grants had been given by the Council to musicians using our money. This is not Council business.
