Skimstone

Had wine tasting led by Amanda, great experience and learned a lot. Highly recommended for good wines and a relaxed atmosphere.

We'd been to another winery that day and had a bad experience, but upon arrival at Skimstone, all was well! The wines were excellent and we ended up buying a case. There was plenty for our kids to do such as a huge outdoor chess board, and when it started to rain, we headed inside where the fire was.The customer service was excellent - not overbearing, very knowledgeable about the wine, wine makers and history of the winery - and the view was wonderful.In my opinion, possibly the best winery in Mudgee and we'll be back for sure.

The wines were beautiful. We were prepared to buy a few bottles, but after being told that buying “a couple” of wines would cover the tasting fee the owner then insisted that we buy 1 carton per person to comp our $15pp wine tasting fee, so we left empty handed. Every other winery we attended was more than happy to allow us to buy 1-2 maybe 3 bottles to comp that fee but were all upfront about the cost.Now the owner replies and lies about their policy. If we had been told on arrival that the cost was the cost and not waived, we still would have bought wine. But we were lied to then and he is lying now. More than happy to support viticulture if the vineyard is upfront about the fees, but what I don’t tolerate is being lied to then or now.

Very bad service. We were ignored for 20 minutes so got up and left. Looking around every other table had empty glasses and were also looking around waiting to be served. If they expect to be busy they should put more staff on.

What a view and what a range!The wines were phenomenal, we ended up with a case and we loved every one from the Rose made with Sangiovese to the Barolo. The cellar door is quite large with various seats indoors and outdoors with a fire pit for the winter and a big chess board to play outdoors. Charcuterie and cheese on the menu to match perfectly with your Italian leaning reds.Will be back for the wines, the glorious mountain views and the lovely service.

Lovely winery to pop into on the way in or out of Mudgee. Friendly staff and beautiful view. Very relaxing.

Lovely little winery with everything for adults and kids!

We booked a tasting online and drove an hour to the cellar door. Nobody appeared so we rang the office. We were told the tasting could not go ahead and that the winemaker was supposed to ring me. We were given his number. He said the office was supposed to ring me. Not happy. Wasted time! Very unprofessional!

Met with the lovely owner. Even though only 1 out of 3 of us tasted the wine, we had a lovely chat with her. Her wines are more French then Australian without the drying bitter aftertaste most Aussy wines have. Really loves the Rose and Tre Onde wines. Really unqiue and lovely.Great place to stop and have an unique wine experience, with a nice scenic view.
