RACV Emergency Home Assist

The plumber that attended would not go on the roof to ignite the upstairs central heater pilot light; referring to work safety. He suggested a heating specialist should be called to attend.When I booked the service call I did explain the gas heater for the heating is located on the roof of the two storey house.He should have been made aware before coming outThe house has flat steel deck roofing quite safe to walk on.The heater is located in central section of the roof away from edges - see photo attached.I have attended to this in the past - but given my age 74 - climbing up ladders is forbidden.Please ensure this service call has not been deducted from our home assist allocation as it served no purpose.Kind regards,Maurizio Borgobello

Once again a solid 5 Star service from RACV and Scott the plumber. Scott arrived within 20 minutes of my call and promptly sorted out the leak. Highly recommend this service for peace of mind and 5 Star backup.

John was great. He was patient and knowledgeable in solving our electrical problem. Losing power to most of your house and not being able to work out why is very stressful. So glad I took out this policy!

My sink tap came off around 9.00 am and called RACV Home assistance, then they said that I’ll receive a call soon. At 10.05 I got a message saying a trade is coming in 42 minutes. I waited until 11.40 and went to work. I left the door open to get the trade in. Then I missed a call from a No caller ID around 11.45. I couldn’t call back. Again I call the number in the message and the lady said a trade has come and he cancelled the job saying “member absent”. If I wanna do the job call again RACV and make another appointment for the job. So again the same cycle.Very inspiring service from RACV. Strongly Not recommended.

The plumber Peter arrive and fixed my tap. The first thing he did was apologies to me for being late. He was very courteous in taking of his shoe to enter my house. He had a friendly conversation with me. It didn't take him very long to solve the problem. Within seconds the completion of the job was in my email. Thanks to RACV and the plumber Peter.

I am very grateful to the plumber who attended my place to fix the taps in my shower.He had been working all day by the time he arrived and was still able to smile and be friendly.Thank you to the RACV for the phone calls telling me of the delays.

On 12/6/2023 I called home assist to replace the washer as the shower was leaking. Could not believe the plumber said he cannot fix it because it is not an emergency and gave me a quote quote for $450 for him to come back and do it the next dayThanks, but no thanks...RACV home assist was a peace of mind in the past, at the moment, I feel it is just a waste of money.I called RACV again at 10pm as the leaking was very bad , I could not go to sleep without fixing. I was told someone will come in 60 minutrs . I was up until 12.30am . No news. I called a tradie this morning, he fixed everything for $70.At 7.50 am, when the tradie was still home I got a message from RACV that the same plumber who attended my address yesteday is coming in 24 minutes.I called to inform no need to come now, I received an advice that i should have called to cancel RACV home assist request.In all honesty I have to say I have been experiencing such poor service from many service providers since the covid pandemic. Cant rely on providers for a responsible service any more.Not comprehending the customers needsWhen they make the call, Insensitivity to customers needs, attempting to make money out of the customers miseries and leaving their emergency unattended. Not good. I lost my sleep last night had to take leave from work and physical fitness regime and I had to rely on someoneelse to get the job done after all these.My latest few calls to RACV indicated that EHA is not standing for EHA anymore but to give business to some new tradies in the field who have no clue about what they are doing. And they in their turn take advantage of the ignorance of the non technical minded people. Fortunately I had previous experience from some decend tradies from call outs to RACV EHA who showed me that stopping shower leakake is emergency and customers should not be paying more than their premium to get a washer replaced. Gone are those blessed days of trustworthy people..

Home Assist, although not replacing a tap, should at least stop a leak. Plumber came but said he couldn't stop the leak unless we ordered another call out. So what's the point of Home Assist then?

The plumber arrived within the hour as promised. He was polite, friendly and helpful. He immediately identified the problem and proceeded to rectify it. Very happy with the service and the result.

Once again, my callout for emergency gas assist was responded to the next day on not within an hour as advertised, and rather than arrive at the agreed 7.00 am, the trade person arrived at 9.00am. Once here, he couldn't rectify the problem.
