Southern Schools of Aikido

I have trained at Southern Schools of Aikido for the past 2 years. The amount that I have developed technically, mentally and morally has dramatically improved my life. It has not only taught me how to defend myself which brings me much confidence, it's teaching me the skills to be better a person in every day life. The fitness and amount of energy I have on a day to day basis is a massive bonus. Can't recommend more. From beginners to masters, this School can cater for all!

My daughter has been training at this dojo for 5 years and loves it. Scott is a great teacher and the children respond so well to him. I am very happy with the skills my daughter has learnt and her development in her time at Southern Schools and look forward to many more years! In my opinion SSA is the best school for learning Aikido. Scott Sensei not only takes the time and care to build confidence in students but systematically teaches proven self-defence techniques and greater awareness. Moreover, the classes have a spiritual/philosophical aspect which have enriched my life and helped me to deal with my own issues.

Scott Eggenton Sensei Aikido technique is exemplary. I don't believe anyone else in Melbourne will give you as good a training.

After checking out many Aikido schools to find the right fit, we found Sensei Scott. My son has now been training with Sensei for 5 years, after starting at age 6, he has matured from a child who struggled to control his frustrations, into a tween whom I can be proud of. I owe a lot of thanks to Sensei for his consistent approach and skill as a teacher of the way to children. I encourage anyone who wants to see their child develop a depth of character to attend, and to consider adult classes for themselves as well.

I have trained at Southern Schools of Aikido for just under a year. I have a background in fencing (swords). Of the things I've most enjoyed from coming here is my fencing has dramatically improved from the Aikido exercises and techniques learned during class.Scott Sensei has encouraged me to ask questions before or after class that I have about fencing and he has given me his full attention, patience and insights that have always propelled my development and given me the tools to find the next questions.Outside of martial training, the school has also provided me a place to work on my self esteem. Scott Sensei generates an energy with his students that gives me a literal buzz of feeling alive and alert while training that lasts for even days at a time. Even if I missed a class or more due to other commitments, coming back to train has been easy - I've never felt like I've been left behind, just picked up where I left off.Awesome school, highly recommend.
