There aren't many fine dining restaurants around Crows Nest, and delighted we found this little gem of a place! Super impressed by the food and wine. Friendly staff, the manager made us laugh, a good dose of humour most welcomed. highly recommend, each dish did not disappoint

We had a great experience at Annata this weekend. John, the owner and sommelier, is deeply passionate about wine, and took a unique approach to pairings for a set menu we tried, offering two quite different wines for each course, presenting and providing a taste of each before we made a choice. We made some great discoveries and thoroughly enjoyed everything we tasted, including of course the beautifully presented and delicious food. It was all gorgeous but if I had to choose a favourite, the BBQ pork neck with burnt pineapple was out of this world. So glad to have found this gem not too far from home. Recommended!

If you are really into your wines, then this is the place for you as there appears to be a huge selection and the owner and sommelier, John, is truly knowledgeable and enthusiastic. However, if wines are not particularly your thing and you are just looking for a nice place for romantic dinner, there are better options that are less pretentious or expensive.The food was very nice. The beef cheeks were particularly tender and my husband very much enjoyed the smokey flavour of the pork neck. The horchata gelato with corn husk meringue was interesting though it would have been nicer with more gelato and less of the passionfruit cream. Overall, the food was very enjoyable (though the plating was not particularly inspired) but what I would expect from a hatted restaurant and for the prices that were charged. I did think that being charged $8 for a bottle of non-descript sparkling water (it looked like sparking water from a Zip tap in a recycled wine bottle) was a bit cheeky though.The service staff were very friendly and efficient. But, if it is possible to be over-friendly and efficient, they certainly were. I had chosen this restaurant based on reviews for a rare date night" dinner with my husband and in fact told our waitress when she asked us on our arrival. However

Wonderful atmosphere & service. Every wine served was delicious and the food was exceptional, with great portion sizes. What a hidden crows nest gem!!! (Kingfish entree pictured)

Annata is a really lovely venue, the food is good and the wine list is extensive but the value and presentation is not there when compared to other fine dining restaurants in Sydney (hatted or not hatted).The tooth fish (two small pieces) $75, the beef cheeks $48. Again, lovely flavours but the presentation all dishes ordered was disappointing - I brought clients here and when the plates were put in front of us, I genuinely felt embarrassed.The table we were seated at was wonky - one waiter identified this and fixed it quite quickly, thankfully, but it was awkward encounter (with all the food and drinks needing to be cleared and four people having to stand up in the middle of the restaurants surrounded by people trying to enjoy their meal).On top of that, questions raised regarding the menu and various alterations was met with sarcasm from our main waitress. A behaviour that all four of us did not appreciate.If you are marketing yourself at a fine dining restaurant and are charging premium prices (I.e over $500 was spent here this evening) that comes with a certain expectation.Unfortunately Annata missed the mark for all 4 of us.

We loved our dinner at Annata. The wait staff were friendly and professional if not perfectly slick. The food was interesting and delicious. We loved the owners passion for wine and ability to tell us some interesting factoids while we sampled a few before deciding which to have- that experience sets Annata apart from most other places I’ve been. The lovely sommelier recommended the perfect dessert wine too. All up a very fine dining experience.
