There aren’t many national trust properties that stay open in the winter. This one does on selected days so check their website. We went as a large mixed family group, three generations and we all loved it. There is the grand hall as well as the museum and there is a great national trust cafe . There is something for everyone even in the winter when you maybe don’t want to take full advantage of the grounds

The staffs are friendly. The museum is small but so full of history. The cost is reasonable. We have been to Victor Harbor plenty of times but only visited this museum now. It is definitely worth our time. My daughter is only 3 and when she heard the recorded real life sound effects of the whales and horses-she was scared. But overall, we enjoyed it.

The Old Customs and Stations Masters House Museum is managed by the National trust of Sth Australia. The staff are knowledgeable and the exhibits well preserved. A tour through here gives a real feel for the for the early History and is well worth the time. It is situated in the heart of the historical part of the town close to the Whale Centre and the Steamranger Rail Station.
