Kats Fish & Chips

After preferring another shop for years and getting 1 recent bad bit of fish i decided to give Katz another go .........and i regret it. Overcooked, dry fish. The potato cakes were dry and floury inside . The batter very ordinary. My dog enjoyed them. Didn't touch the chips sorry ........ the hot dog in batter was pretty good but pricey . I was not impressed. The service was great despite being very busy. The 40 min wait didnt bother me. The food did. I'll go back to my favourite shop and hope they'll do better.

True old style fish n chips and a very generous serving size. Best I have had in years. Five star!!

Best fish n chips in Traralgon. Great jam donuts too. It took us many fish n chippery to find them. Tucked away in Barker Crescent. Well worth the wait!Great staff, great food. There's even a park across the road.We recently moved and we literally now drive 30km to get them.Simply the best!!

Really delicious fish and chips tucked away with a nearby playground and seats to eat at. The fish was so tasty and the staff so helpful and friendly with my 3 year old. We would love to come back next time we drive through here.

Absolutely appalling customer service from the bloke there.. Walked up to get some fish and chips for me and the kids and I’ve walked in and the bloke had asked me if I had an order, I’m assuming he meant rang up and ordered prior and i’ve said no and his turned around and as he was turning around he said under his breath “ofcourse you don’t” but still loud as day and wouldn’t serve me. Yes I got served in the end by a women but still just the fact he was happy to serve me until I said no I didn’t have an order already. NO WHERE states I had to pre order. So bloody rude.

Did a phone order at 5:30 Good Friday. Yes there busiest day of the year. The young guy on the phone said 15mins. In my mind l doubled that, given the day. Left home to go get it. Got to the shop and it was quite full. The lovely girl in the register said it wasn’t ready and she would call me when it was. After waiting an hour and seeing people l am sure had ordered at the counter receive their order, l approached the counter said l had been waiting an hour could they advise how long it would be. She asked as it wasn’t in the fryer. Mind you l was having grilled fish and two potato cakes. The owner looks around “maybe another 10 minutes” as he didn’t even check to see how far down the pile my order was l figured that could be doubled at least. So l said they could cancel the order. So instead of apologising for the wait, he gets lippy. “Well that’s great, thanks for canceling that helps us out, one less to worry about” l swore the last time l went there it would be the last, but this is the last time. I am tried of him swearing at his wife and staff. Having a go at his customers. Not a great way to run a business buddy.

Don't let the venue or where it is dismay you. If you are looking for that greasy salty tasty deliciousness fish and chips fix - this is the place.We were at a 5 star fish and chips place at a port - the fish was super fresh but didn't quite hit that spot... This hits the spot.Will be going back to this one.

Best fish and chips in town. Highly recommend!
