Kookaburra Creek Retreat

My wife & I had a fantastic time staying in the Bedford Bus @ Kookaburra Creek Retreat. Ideal for us to getaway for a few days & not owning much camping equipment this spot was more than we had hoped for to get out under the stars. Such a quiet retreat with some awesome hikes nearby (Alligator Gorge). Highly recommend if you are ready for a break from city life, Wallace will take good care of you.

This place is truly special. It is so peaceful and breathtakingly beautiful, I cannot recommend it highly enough. We stayed at the end of June and the fire in our hut kept us toasty warm (Jo and Melita ensured our firewood supply was always high). We enjoyed hot showers, bush walks and sunrises to knock your socks off. Can't wait to go back.

Great holiday destination for families and couples. Large range of accomodation choices including camping sites allowing for you to tailor the stay to your liking. Accomodation is of good quality and is within close proximity to the town of Melrose and its extensive trail networks into the nearby hills and to Mt. Remarkable!

We booked Kookaburra House, the Loft and Workshop for 4x nights.It was clean, spacious and cosy(cold nights) The kitchen was fantastic....it had everything we needed...even eggcups!Close to Wilmington and Melrose and not far to travel for iconic walks in the area.Jo and Melita excellent hosts and nothing was too difficult.We even got a hint of where the orchids were flowering.

Stayed in Judith's Hut over the weekend, accommodation was easy to book. The retreat is beautiful, clean and was kitted out with everything you need. Perfect for mountain bikers or hikers alike, or just for those wanting a nature escape.

My young girls and I stayed in the Bedford Bus for 3 nights - excellent! We often camp but this is great choice for us when we want less hassel. With homey vibes it’s so convenient and welcoming, and the bus is so cosy. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils pots/pans/plates too, with is great. Lovely to cook and eat at a proper table under the shelter of the shed. The campfire was a bonus! The toilets, showers and washing machines are conveniently located. The views are gorgeous and there are some great walking tracks only a short way away, as is Melrose for all your basic needs if you run out of anything. Thanks Melita, Jo, and family :D

One of the nicest campsites we've stayed at. Large campsites far enough away from others that you have plenty of space and privacy, but with the convenience of showers and flushing toilets.Didn't get to meet the owners, but communication via email or phone was excellent.Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be one that we go back to.

These place is amazing!! Had a 5 day road trip planned with 1 night here in the bus. And I secretly regretted the whole trip because I think we would have enjoy all day days here at Kookaburra Creek!What the owners have done here is special well done guys! Will be returning!!!PS don't expect wifi or good phone reception hehe.
