Silver Ridge Retreat

Our favourite moments in Tasmania were here, thanks to Silver Ridge's breathtaking location and comfy, tidy rooms! Really wish we could've stayed longer, as the spot is completely magical and got our travels off to a glorious start. You're right at the foot of Cradle Mountain, and can drive 40/50 minutes to get to the national park for a hike or walk. The friendly owner gave us heaps of fascinating info about the wildlife and history of the area, and pesky chooks followed us around which really added to the homey and natural feel of it all haha.

The whole experience was great especially the guided midnight stroll into the forest with John was a cherry on top.Very quiet , serene atmosphere overlooking the Cradle mountain.It has now become our favorite place to stay whenever we are hiking the cradle mountain.

A beautiful location at the foot of Mt Roland. The accommodation is several decades old, but in acceptable condition. There's a walk on the property to an abandoned silver mine which is rough, so care is needed.

John was an excellent and knowledgeable host. We only stayed for two nights but could've easily stayed longer to explore North Central Tassie. Conveniently located less than an hour from Cradle Mountain and other fantastic locations. Plenty of places to eat close by and...THE VIEWS or Mt Roland. Wow. Kids loved the heated pool and the animals around the property. Thoroughly comfortable and would recommend

Stunning location, with breathtaking scenery. We had a lovely walk through the paddocks, met an echidna on a path and saw platypus in one of the ponds.The walk up to the caves to the glow worms was intense and not very rewarding. It is an experience in itself though, between the foot high water, darkness and spiders. It is so helpful that they provide gumboots for guests to use for this walk.The cabins were a great size but are in a desperate need for new furniture, towels and bedding. Several of our couches were broken and the TV was tiny. I can see that this has been mentioned in other reviews too.The heated indoor pool is gorgeous. The communal laundry is available to all guests, with free washing and a coin operated drier. This too may need to be upgraded as it took hours and $13 to dry my washing.John was really lovely and a great host.

Amazing location and back drop… Mt Roland looks stunning. Plenty of farm life… cows, horses, hens, roosters…We were there for only 2 nights but our cottage was very very clean and tidy. Can cook if you want to.. had oven, stove and fridge.Went on a night walk around the farm… was fun and John knows his stuff.Great price and Cradle Mountain is only around 45mins away.Definitely come back one day.Only downside, which doesn’t matter much - they only have ABC and SBS on the tv.

Location is special. Views are great. Facilities are suffering from a bit of a maintenance deficit. I don't like to rate low on people's hard work, especially when the owners are clearly passionate... But the accommodations were not amazing. It's location, location, location here. And views.

This is my second stay in Silver Ridge, the first was more than 10 years ago. There are interesting animals sighting around the accommodation and the cottage is as comfy as before . The host - John is helpful and knowledgeable and this accommodation is my first choice if I ever need to stay near cradle mountain again

Was a great place to stay. Found through word of mouth will ringing around for a room when exploring cradle mountain. It was only an hours drive away from cradle and only 10 minutes drive into sheffield which has a great bakery and other places to grab a meal. The view of the mountain is amazing and the owners are lovely. Would highly recommend staying.It also has a bushwalk to an old mine to have a look at.We only booked 2 nights but decided to extended for three nights it was that good.
