Mindy is an amazing chef and it was the best food I've ever eaten. Her ability to use native Australian ingredients with modern techniques brought together thoughtful, beautiful and delicious dishes.Each and every course was stunning with flavours I had never imagined together. My highlights were the complex flavours of the damper and butter, the perfect cook on the fish and the richness of chocolate and wattleseed in the desert. Mindy has such a joyous outlook on life and it shows in her food.It was amazing food, fantastic staff, a beautiful venue all at a great location close to the beach. I look forward to visiting again and trying more.

We did the Cape Byron tour and Delta recommended this restaurant. This was our best dinner (of 5) on our trip. The restaurant is run by a Mindy, a First Nations woman and she uses native ingredients. There are delicious alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks on the menu, we tried both. Each plate was full of layers of flavour.The venue is beautiful, the staff are friendly. If you go to Byron Bay, you need to go here!

What a beautiful experience, the menu and ingredients used are being done justice to, amazing produce used to the full potential and the quality team makes it worth every second spend in enjoying the native flavours. Highly recommend place and I might be flying back to Byron from Melbourne soon!

The best meal we have had in Byron by a long way! Food was so fresh and use of native ingredients was subtle yet well incorporated into their dishes. Our favourites were the scallops and green curry, but seriously everything was amazing. Even our kids fish and chips were great! Will be back!

The creativity, cleverness and wonderfully crafted menu at Karkalla showcases native bush food in a modern contemporary way. There is simply no other restaurant like this. Mindy and her team make for such a memorable dining experience. Definitely a must eat in Byron!

The food is incredible. Highly recommend for a beautiful dining experience. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Their homemade version of a pink lemonade is amazing, yum!!

I believe that if you find someone who is passionate about their product, then you will find a quality product, and that's what I think Karkalla embodies. Not only was the food and service exceptional, but the enthusiasm the staff showed for their ingredients was what made my night. There was so much passion and love in the way they spoke about where the food was sourced, from the oysters to the snapper, the betel leaf to saltbush, how it had all been prepared, suggestions on how best to enjoy their food and a short but detailed description of what was served. Once we'd finished, the waitstaff, chef and sous were happy to chat more and answer any further question I had. Thank you so very much, you all made for an unforgettable experience.

The best restaurant food in Byron. The damper with butter was incredible and the scallops were so tasty! The green fish curry with roti was like liquid gold, and the fish was beautiful. The mango brulee topped off a fabulous meal perfectly. Service was super friendly and attentive, and the vibe was great. Would highly recommend!
