Yungaburra Butchery
Very nice local butcher! Preservative free sausages were nice and has range of smoked meats. I had their smoked chicken in a salad at the local Cafe and their steak at the Yungaburra Hotel.

We visited Yungaburra on Friday and decided to buy meat for BBQ at the butchers there. What can I say?, Absolutely fantastic!!! Great flavoured meat, rissoles are to die for! Wish you guys were closer so we could shop there more!

Yungaburra Butchery
TL;DR - Well-presented, friendly place to get various cuts of meat and seafood. Prices are competitive and quality of produce is consistently maintained. There is also some local produce like raw honey etc.-----------------------------------------Have been visiting Yungaburra Butchery ever since it was recommended by some locals. I drive past Yungaburra on my way back to Cairns from Atherton so it was a good opportunity to check it out.I found that their Tablelands beef quality to be superior to that of butchers in Cairns, and prices are cheaper. The colour is a proper dark red rather than the bright red found in supermarkets and even some 'premium' butchers. Marbling is good and fat caps are fresh creamy white!Pork is also a good choice. The usual pork cuts are available, and their pork belly is not scored, meaning that you get to score it to your liking. Other butchers often overdo the scoring, leading to uneven crackling, an absolute no-no for Chinese style roast pork belly (siew yok). Best of all, the pork does not have the strong gamey smell/taste found from other suppliers.Chicken is fresh, succulent, and not strong smelling. Unlike chicken from supermarkets and some butchers, there is not a huge amount of chicken fat that goes along with the meat.Lamb is also very good, they use a local small supplier (forgotten the name). Flavour is strong and complex, without being too gamey. The fat caps also have excellent colour and flavour - perfect for roasts! They also have hams and lamb bones etc. in the fridge. Hams are smoked in-house, and so much better than the fake smoke hams in supermarkets.Seafood is frozen, and good quality. Amazingly, prawns are actually fresher than some seafood suppliers in Portsmith, Cairns (which is close to the sea!). I believe the barramundi is caught in Lake Tinaroo just up the road. There are also a couple of shelves with local produce like raw honey. I think this a good way to support local small scale producers, who may not have the resources to have a shop of their own.Service - friendly, patient, always willing to answer questions and also happy for me to be picky about the cuts I want. Could not ask for more.
