Halls Gap Visitor Information Centre

We had very little knowledge of what hikes to do from Halls Gap so we thought we would visit the information centre as soon as we arrived so we could plan our days. The centre is lovely but the service was terrible. We were the only people seeking help and their were two staff. The woman that served us acted like we were interrupting her. She pushed a vague map at us then scribbled on it with highlighter pen and talked very fast and we were no better informed by the end of her 30 second spiel. I walked away then turned back to say I was still confused so then she pushed another map at me which she said would cost $4 and would explain things better. Not really! If that is all staff can offer they would be better to have automated kiosks that talk you through the various walks and level of ability and save the council some money. Worst information centre I have ever visited. No help at all. So instead we had to sit in our car to google various walks and gain information about each one.

Very warm and welcoming staff, i was able to get detailed information on good hikes around the national park. The guy at the reception was really passionate about his job.Also, the hot showers for 3$ were really good. Excellent service for travellers.

Family-perfect holiday spot. Walking, golf, rest, good restaurants, friendly people. What more is there?

Good place to start the day, clean bathrooms, a tap to fill water bottles and information on the area. The only negative is that there is little freely available information on which walks you can do, the starting point for the walks and the distance of each. You can buy a map eith this information for $3.5,or take a look at the large map on on the wall which lists the names of the walks then google the rest of the information. Reading through Google reviews tells you about all there is to learn from the $3.5 brochure.

Halls Gap is an essential hub for the Grampians the craft beer bar makes a great place to consider your next move.Hikes and accommodation are greatly varied, and the vistas are well worth the effort.Enjoy

Good facilities, from clean toilets to comfy seats. However only day trip info, for hiking you have to purchase from hiking services

The information centre was good but disappointed with the staff. Little bit ambivalent and not super helpful.Fortunately lots of brochures and board with maps. Plus across the road is great info as well near the pool and playground.Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good parking out the front.
