We booked Chunar Lodge via Peninsula Holiday Rentals as it had an indoor heated pool" and was "dog friendly".The pool was not working when we got there. We called the rental company after waiting a couple of hours and they couldn't do anything for us.They sent the technician at 10am the following day who told us that the pool was not filled up enough for the heaters to come on which is why the water was icy cold. The pool took 6-7 hours to fill up via a hose. Why this was not done before we checked in is beyond me!We had to spend our "holiday" time filling up the pool with a hose and checking to see if the heater was operating every now and then.We requested a 5pm checkout so we could enjoy the pool on the 2nd and 3rd day (day of checkout) atleast

Literally one of the worst customer service experiences I have had. I think a company is defined by how they deal with valid complaints. After being told that we couldnt check in at 2pm instead of 4pm because the cleaners wouldn't be finished yet we checked in to find the house was FILTHY. Dead spiders and moths everywhere and sand had been swept under the rug and not away. It was unlivable. I emailed them within hours to no reply and then voiced my disgust and was met with no apologies and when I asked to view their refund policy they pretty much told me to get lost. I felt their response to my complaint was very rude and I hope they improve for future customers.

If I could give a 0 star I would. Worst customer service I have ever received. Booked a last minute holiday for the family a week before the trip. Paid in full and paid the bond. We then had to cancel a few days prior to the holiday date as a family member became terminally unwell unexpectedly. We were told we can either still go or we would loose our money.. Their excuse was that it could of been booked by someone else instead of us. Firstly no one else was booking in the middle of winter and secondly we only booked a week prior so if someone wanted to book they had plenty of opportunity.We don't even want our money back, we just want a credit note so we could go another time.HEARTLESS, RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. Would never book with this company ever again.Responding to your reply:If it was a popular time for booking I’m sure it would of been booked well before a week before.Considering we cancelled a few days after booking I highly doubt anything was done to the house to prepare it and even if it was we would of been happy to pay for these costs but that wouldn’t cost the $5k that we paid.Yous are a scam, insurance or not we wouldn’t of got our money back.

We had a wonderful stay over the Christmas holidays through Peninsula Holiday Rentals. The property was immaculate when we arrived and was perfect for our family needs (pet friendly!).The staff were great from the time we enquired about the property right through to the time we left. Will definitely be going through Peninsula Holiday Rentals again next Christmas and would highly recommend them to family and friends.

The accommodation is beautifully located towards the back beach of Rye where it is quietly secluded away whilst being only 5-10mins from local shops that are easily accessible. The house has great appliances and amenities that you would need e.g basics like dishwashing soap, hand wash and toilet paper. It had a great bbq with a nice and intimate outdoor seating area.However from our experience, it unfortunately was a great disappointment for a number of reasons. We had purely booked this place due to the pool being advertised as heated at 28 degrees with solar heating and when called to say it didn’t feel warm the reply we got was that the solar heating only works so long as the day is hot enough. This was not explained or advertised as so when we booked nor did we think we needed to have a understanding of solar pool heating prior to booking this place. Most of the plates, cups, mugs and cutlery were dirty. The bath tub was very dusty. We found plenty of spiders and cobwebs in all the bedrooms (I’m not talking one or two either, I’d say 5-10 spiders). Every night plenty small black millipedes came into the house, I didn’t realise how bad it was until when we packed up I found around 20 or more in the room our toddler was staying in. As well as crickets and beetles coming in every night. But what was most upsetting was the discovery of MICE!!! We initially thought they only quickly came into the house from the back door as it had a large gap however we then found them in the kitchen on our last night with droppings under the kitchen sink. We found this highly unhygienic and so upsetting that we decided to pack up and leave early. We were very concerned for our child’s well-being especially as she slept in a portacot not elevated from the ground. We called the rental office and informed them of us leaving immediately and our complaint of the mice. This was met in a mocking and belittling manner. And they simply stated there’s plenty on the Peninsula and there was nothing they could do after speaking to someone more senior in the rental office which also included their inability for giving a refund for the last night or discount for our stay.This is unacceptable for the amount of money we paid. It is expected that any house rented should be clean and hygienic, especially a rental that is advertised as a luxury home. Nor do I think that it is too much to ask for that the home NOT have MICE!! This is basic hygiene.We’ve stayed in the peninsula before on multiple occasions by far this was the most expensive however it was the most unpleasant experience we have ever had. Such a disappointment.

Customer service was shocking, Scott the manager who was rude and disrespectful. Was trying to book a place for a family trip, accepted my booking then decided to cancel it without any notification. Took the initial payment (over 2.5k) which wasn't returned for 2-3 days meaning I couldn't book anything else in time, had to cancel the family trip after everyone had already taken days off because it was confirmed. I recommend everyone to stay away from this company and especially Scott, best way to describe him....champion bloke.

Terrible terrible company. Cassie an employer of the company when asked if the booking had been canceled had a foul attitude and response. This customer representative needs to be more helpful then harmful to people requests. We only wanted to get away for Christmas. Ruined our getaway. Avoid this company. Would not recommend.
