Merrimu Reservoir Picnic Area Playground
Merrimu Reservoir, located west of Melbourne near Bacchus Marsh, is a serene recreational park that is definitely worth a visit. I highly recommend Merrimu Reservoir to anyone looking for a peaceful day out that is in the area. One of the best things about Merrimu Reservoir is its peaceful environment, which is perfect for picnics. The park is open from 8.30am to 4.30pm daily, making it an ideal destination for day trips. Visitors can enjoy the scenic views while having a relaxing picnic with friends and family.Another interesting fact about Merrimu Reservoir is that it is a vital source of drinking water for local towns and irrigation water for the Werribee Irrigation District. Due to the variable water levels throughout the year, the reservoir is also a fascinating place for those who are interested in hydrology and the science of water management. The park has great facilities to ensure visitors have an enjoyable time. There is ample car parking available, as well as both covered and uncovered picnic tables. Additionally, visitors can make use of the BBQ facilities to cook up some tasty food while enjoying the views. The public toilets are clean and accessible, with a dedicated disabled stall available. Young visitors will also enjoy the playground, which has a slide, monkey bars, jungle gym and swings. It is worth noting that dogs are welcome at the park but must be kept on a lead.It is important to mention that Merrimu Reservoir is a closed catchment and reservoir, meaning all water activities are prohibited along with any type of fires. Nonetheless, this does not detract from the beauty of the park, and there are plenty of other things to see and do.Overall, Merrimu Reservoir is an excellent place to visit for those who love nature and appreciate tranquil environments. As a tour guide, I highly recommend visiting Merrimu Reservoir for a relaxing day out with family and friends.

Merrimu Reservoir Picnic Area Playground
Cute little playground with beautiful view over the reservoir. Older style play equipment, flying fox broken, not much variety.
