Grand Hotel

Went to try out the new kitchen staff. Overpriced. Staff was not friendly while taking our order. My partner asked for medium steak which was very overdone. I had salmon and salad. Way overpriced for a salad clearly coming out of a Woolies salad bag.

We popped into The Grand Hotel after a long day out with the family and let me tell you, it definitely wasn't Grand! The bistro area wasn't too busy and you could tell who the locals were as some of them arrived after us and received their meals way before us. We were waiting 45 mins for our meals until I asked for an ETA, I was told 10-15 mins. We got very simple meals, and it took an hour to finally get our meals. All we got was a simple sorry for the delay". Our roast of the day (pork) was meh! Didn't even have crackling

Just came home hungry after waiting over an hour and a half for meals when the pub was quiet. My daughter received an undercooked cheese burger first and my other daughter waited another half an hour for her nuggets. When I questioned kitchen staff about my other two meals (a chicken schnitzel and a steak sandwich) they told me they were yet to prepare the chicken schnitzel. I asked for a refund for both meals. They gave me a twenty for the schnitzel but would not refund my steak sandwich because it was on its way now". 'Now' must have meant something other than 'now' because after another 5 minutes we walked out. The whole time we could hear an underqualified chef yelling at young staff and tackling one meal at a time. The family beside us had waited over 2 hours and received nothing but a raw

Fantastic hotel with great staff and atmosphere, the only disappointment was at dinner where we were served deli-like, thin chicken Schnitty. Yuk. All 3 were the same. For the price, if you're unable to use fresh chicken breast to crumb and serve take it off the menu rather than serve something that looked like it came out of a box.

Travelling from Sunshine Coast and stopped at this pub for lunch which was recommended by a friend who lives in Childers. To say I'm disappointed is the least, for such a good looking pub on the main highway the food and service was a lot left to be desired. My husband ordered a chicken schnitzel burger and I ordered the grilled barramundi. We waited almost 2 hours.. yes 2 bloody hours for our meals to be delivered. We went up 3 times to ask when the food would be ready and kept being told it'll be ready in 10-15 minutes every single time. The only positive experience we had was from the bar staff. Everything else was disappointing. For such a beautiful hotel in Childers the food service was extremely disappointing and we recommend going elsewhere for a counter meal in Childers. We definitely won't be back. Shame shame.

Stopped here for lunch I had a steak sanga my brother had a parmi both were good plenty of room out the back nice spot.

No clean tables, cutlery boxes empty, table was just a mess and no one came to clean it. Out of chips, substituted by sweet potato chips., Out of steaks, and rissoles despite being next door to the butcher? Lady at the table next to us actually said 'not worth eating here, I'd go somewhere else'. Garbo came while we were eating and then the whole beer garden smelt putrid.I had the fungi parmi which was actually quite good but probably not worth $25

Do not recommend. We chose The Grand for dinner after a long day’s drive and were disappointed with both the food and the service. The young man taking orders was on his phone the whole time and inattentive and a couple who walked in at 7pm were told the kitchen was closed when the closing time advertised was 8pm. Steak was not on the menu so we ordered steak sandwiches which would have been ok if we’d paid $10 at a school fundraiser, not $20 in a bistro.

Was just driving through, no time for food, but cold beer, friendly service, clean toilets. All a bloke needed once upon a time.Love the old qld pub vibe when you walk in.

The crab and salmon very tasty. Great service too.
