Difference in our dogs on the lead after an hour session is unbelievable no more pulling. John taught us the correct techniques to use when walking and training our dogs. Very happy with his service. Will be a return client for sure.

I don’t believe that this service is worth the money. One visit from this man costed me $480 despite originally being told $450. I also assumed that at this price, we would’ve got more sessions, however, we were wrong. It was 2 hours of John talking through his life experiences and how professional and successful he was. The only trick he taught us was to scare our dog with a jack-chain. I feel like he uses this trick like a magician to ‘waow’ his customers which makes us believe that he has ‘fixed’ the dogs behaviour. Please, please save your money and find someone else who will be there for you and the dog. He was also here for 2 hours and in that time kept calling our dog a different name which I found frustrating. How hard is it to remember a dogs name when getting paid $480 at the end of the session? I agree with other reviews that his manner comes across as intimidating which makes it hard to voice concerns at the time of visit.

I had a home visit with John Gatt a year ago. John recommended snapping a slip lead every time my dog moved from my side, using a throw chain to stop unwanted behaviours and withholding attention and toys to establish my place as 'top dog'. These techniques increased my dogs stress and reactivity. I found John’s communication style intimidating, he claimed there was only one way to get success and it was his way, the way he spoke did not give me time to think or ask questions. I have since learnt a lot more about dog behaviour and regret putting my dogs through John’s methods.

I have done all sorts of training over the years … Obedience, Show training, Delta, Pets as Therapy training. I have had Newfound dogs and Standard poodles for over 25 years.I engaged John Gatt to help with our 2 toy poodles and newly acquired 8 month old German Shepherd.We had a 3 hour visit from him at our home where he sequentially taught us the fundamentals of dog behaviour and hierarchy in the wild. How dogs see us and how we attempt to humanise them which sets them up for all sorts of issues to be developed.As he went through these important aspects, many of these points I understood from previous training BUT putting these aspects in perspective and under a different light made more sense than any of my previous training. Instantly results were had.It is us humans who need to be trained to speak a new language, verbal, body AND behavioural.This teaching is invaluable. It is critical you practice his teaching and be clear in your mind one step at a time before implementing. This is so YOU get it right to avoid mixed messages and confusion. If you want the best out of your dog and to enjoy complete harmony in the home, you need to learn dog language and dog culture. Thank you John for sharing your invaluable knowledge. We felt enormously privileged. This man is up with the absolute best if not, THE BEST across the globe!

John Gatt has a calm but firm approach.Both for dog and owner(s).His philosophy on moulding dog behaviour is based on ‘Instinct’ and ‘Pavlovian’ (learning) techniques.John’s primary focus appears to be on the relationship between our dog and us and safety and welfare for both.He also covers diet, sleeping, toileting, playing…etc.He uses boundary and zone training as well as behavioural training.The follow up phone service and reminder booklet are useful and reassuring.A lot packed into 2 hour “behavioural review” for us and our 9 week old Tamaruke.Highly recommend.

I got him in when my staffy pup had just turned 7 weeks, John's advice has been invaluable in the training of my boy. He's 16 weeks old now and everyone always tells me when we are out how well behaved he is for a staffy puppy his age, Even our vet has said this! My dogs a completely different dog since getting John's help. Couldn't be happier.

John and his staff offer a very professional service. I first had a personalised consultation with John who itemised all the issues my dog was displaying and what issues to look out for in the future. I was so impressed with the consultation that I booked in for the puppy K9 boot camp. This was well worth the money. One thing to keep in mind is that John trains his clients how to train their dogs. It would be silly to think that John has a magic wand and is able to train your dog or fix any problems in a couple of hours. As a dog owner I understand that it takes time and patience on my part to train my dog. John and his staff offer fantastic help after the consulation and K9 bootcamp and I could not be happier. I have been impressed with everything I have experienced and have booked in for the next K9 bootcamp. John is very confident in his abilities as a dog trainer (videos on his Facebook page prove this) however some people unfortunately see his confidence as intimidation. This is not the case. I have never felt intimidated by John and my return as a client on numerous occasions proves this. I find John and his staff so good that I recommend his services to others quite frequently.
