I am moving from Canberra to Toowoomba Qld and needed to open an account with Ergon Energy to pay for the electricity at my new home (upcoming 17th April). I finally got a human on the phone (the online process didn't work for me) and although it took an hour to get signed up, I have to say I was treated with respect. The whole thing was conducted in an efficient manner. I feel that perhaps the low Google Ranking of Ergon energy (only 2/5 stars) is more due to the national increases in electricity than poor performance by staff. I give them a thumbs up, for now

Ergon has been estimating our electricity usage for over a year now, with each bill being around $300 more than when I read the meter myself. Apparently our meter is outdated, they are responsible for replacing it and are overcharging us until they do. Shocking!

An absolutely disgusting company. Not willing to work with their customers. Their call center reps are basically getting off on their customers misfortune and misery. Never calling back, demanding money they know people don't have, refusing to transfer to their supervisor or empty promises of having their superiors call back but never do. Just another shell of a company, with no accountability, that prays on the less fortunate. BURN. IN. HELL.

Ergon is hopeless at meter reading. They sent a message yesterday saying the meter reader is coming today so my partner has to be home to restrain the dog so they can do the read.They don't give you any time slot of expected arrival so you literally have to be there all day waiting (Even Telstra gives you a 4hour window and texts you 10mins before arrival). They still haven't come yet and it's 3pm. She has to pick the kids up from daycare in an hour. I bet they will leave a note saying the can't do the read while she's out.Joke of a Company if they can't even organise efficient schedule to meter read.

Worst electricity company I have ever been with. I cannot contact them about my property due to it being in my partners name so if I need something sorted he needs to contact them while at work. Demand money and threaten to cut electricity if you are a couple weeks overdue. Always expect it to be paid in full and make you feel like you have no other option but to pay your electricity which I have always been in front on electricity but not with these guys. Charge through the roof and expect it to be paid the day it’s due. Ridiculous. I won’t pay a head for something I feel is being overcharged. Always been in front with other companies as they are lovely and can at least have 2 people on the account so you can both contact them if needed.

I'm very impressed with Ergon customer service. By mistake I paid too much for my electricity bill. I called the customer service and the next day I had the money back. Very kind and efficient. Thank you!

Consultants unable to explain simple details, and don't listen to what the customer is requesting.I was transferred to another part of ergon mid sentence only to get a message saying they were closed and call back another time. Furious after the time spent on hold and no answers.....when they call themselves customer SERVICE officers.

This is ridiculous, my partner and I have moved into our new unit on Saturday as we both work during the weeks. No help line or connection services over the weekend? We are living on dry food such as biscuits and bread as we have no power meaning no fridge, oven or toaster. As well as cold showers and cannot wash clothes for work this week. We have now had to throw out $400 worth of food for our fridge and freezer.As I notice many many bad reviews and this service not changing their ways, Ergon will be receiving a formal complaint. If you can go with anyone else, do!
