Nicely laid out, small museum with an entry fee of $5.50 per person. They have some small fossils from all around the world as well as some from the local area like varying teeth, shells, molluscs and fish. They also have some beautiful fossilised timbers and very colourful rocks of many varieties. There is also a short video on the formation of the Porcupine Gorge over 500 million years period. They also have a full size replica of a Muttaburrasaurus named 'Hughie'.There is also a section in the museum on the history of Hughenden.

Informative and interesting place, not a big collection and only one complete model - that of Muttaburrasaurus.Very cheap $5.00 entry. The airconditioning was not working the day we were there so it was VERY hot and uncomfortable.

Small museum but interesting collection especially the map of AU over 100 million years ago where Perth was connected to Anatarctica and outback QLD was an inland sea. Interesting that SA and VIC were also connected to Antarctica. There is a dinosaur replica of Muttaburrasaurus. There’s a 5.50 per adult head entrance and merchandise. The lady was very helpful too.

A must stop when visiting the Flinders area. The lady on the information desk was so helpful. Nice to see someone with such enthusiasm for their town and district, a real credit to her. Found the museum interesting and informative, couple of short movies very interesting. Displays informative and great area for kids to explore as well. Thanks also for the free camp area handy to town and local attractions.

I want to rate this higher but just can not. The site had limited items and lots of the stuff on display was from other parts of the world such as South Africa or some other location. The video was average and just the experience wasn’t worth the extra drive. We went toRichmond and Winton for the other tours and found those great but when got here was disappointing maybe after seeing the other sites this one was just very average. People were helpful and nice in the info centre so that was good. I guess some of the items were not on display as they are upgrading but really not sure what else they could do.

Unfortunately the Discovery Centre of the Dinosaur wasn't open as the are redoing it, but the lovely lady at the information section was very helpful, lots of souvenirs from around the area.

You just don't expect a collection of this quality in a smallish country town. Past the standing dinosaur skeleton replica to a really terrific range of fossils and petrified wood samples, the displays were fascinating. It's not a huge space, but they've packed a lot in for a low price. Well worth a look.
