Had a macadamia, thyme, honey double baked croissant and batch brew coffee. The coffee was pretty nice by Reuben Hills. In my opinion, the croissants for $10, I felt price quite too expensive.Anyway staffs were friendly. Will come back to try others savory options.

Drinking pastry may sound like the necessity of your grandmother. Here though, it's the luxury of this satiated reviewer. The pictured pastry, a cross between pizza, focaccia and French boule (the bread, not the metal ball game you play the only time you ever drank pastis) is a pastry of mystery. It has its own dampness, crispness and doughiness. The topping is all you need, but not quite enough in proportion. But it is a joy. And joy is good, whether the pastry is bitten, eaten or drunk.

Tucked away in a quiet corner barely 50 meters away from Newtown's bustling King Street, AP is an unassuming and cosy little pet friendly place with lovely staff.Having read the rave reviews, I was keen to assess whether (to me) it lived up the hype. I tried the oversized signature macadamia croissant which was very tasty but the external honey drizzle made it a bit too sweet and difficult/messy to handle manually (mine was a take away order). The Aleppo pepper swirl was ordinary and reminded me of the Middle Eastern za'atar bread (which is better). The canelle was probably the best item with its crunchy exterior complemented by the lovely gooey innards. It is literally the dark horse.I guess all the press left me with very high expectations. Coupled with a nearly $40 bill (including a coffee), I was left 'AP' or almost pleased.

Twice baked macadamia croissant was lovely, had a solid crunch and the paste had a smooth texture and nutty but slightly sweet flavour. The pork and eggplant flatbread was very filling and had a nice variety of flavour between smoky, juicy, garlic-y and bread-y.The staff were also nice - they noticed I was cycling and offered me a carry bag :) thanks! However I felt that at $10 for the croissant and $13 for the bread, this was a bit too expensive, hence -1 star. Nonetheless, worth it for an occasional splurge!

I was blown away by the flakiness of the pie pastry. I got the smoked brisket pie with chilli sauce (really packs a punch) on the side and I love flaky pies so it was perfect. Also tried the basque cheesecake - made well and came with a (kumquat?) marmalade to cut through the creaminess and keep it light.

Nice pastries, including some delightful use of native ingredients.Strictly takeaway. They close when they run out of goods.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the pastries themselves, but I find it hard to pay $9+ for a takeaway pastry. There is a park about a block away and a bench nearby on City Rd.

What a gorgeous, hidden gem! Fantastic coffee brewed with Reuben Hills beans and my partner devoured his macadamia, thyme, honey double baked croissant. Hello lover! Super warm & friendly staff too. Will be back to sample the other goodies.
