For some time I had an ambition to owner build a house but never seemed to have the alignment of time and finance. However the opportunity came late 2017 when my son decided to buy a block of land from us that we had owned for some time and build a house on it. He bought the block and we, his mum and I used the cash to build the house, a partnership so to speak. Over the years I had gathered a huge file of information with regard to owner building, regulations, licenses and building stat etc;; so I knew what to do but not quite where to start. Then along came Greg Howes. Having spoken to several 'experts' I knew I wanted to have someone local, practical and knowledgeable and that's what Greg is. Not only is he a talented draftsman, he knows his stuff when it comes to design, what goes where, how it goes, what's practical and how it fits withing shire and building guidelines and what he doesn't know or is not within his scope of expertise he is supported by a group of highly qualified and structural, survey and building engineers. Our build started around April 2018. Planning approval went through shire and building commission approvals without a hiccup and although we did make some small changes on the way (always checking with Greg first) and discovered that owner building is not for the feint hearted. I would strong recommend Greg to any potential owner builder. you won't go wrong. The house turned out great, exactly what we wanted. The construction came in slightly under budget but overall about 15% over mainly due to the changes we made and the extent of finishes we added to it. it was was completed in Dec 2018 and is currently tenanted. Greg has my contact details and I am happy to allow him, with discretion, to release those to any prospective client that wants to know more.Alan
