3Nov2022 Dinner for two. Quiet Thurs evening at the dining side of hotel which opens at 5.30pm. Very friendly & efficient waitress. Small menu selection at slightly above standard prices. We had the beef panko schnitzels with gravy on side (best ever) which was absolutely delicious but with a very small side serve of chips. Other meals coming out also looked delicious, including the generous rib-eye on the bone at $48 and S&P squid. Pleasant quirky decor showcasing stunning photo's of the historic hotel and streetscapes. Nice outdoor dining area with plenty of seating. Minor observation with inside chairs needing an upgrade as some were a little rickety and unstable. Otherwise the kitchen staff are efficiently skilled taking pride in food quality and delivery. Recommend a visit (review is for food served at the bistro bar facing Commercial Road).

•An absolutely disgusting pub.•We went for dinner, it was quiet and meals still took 50mins.•Whilst we waited I went to order drinks and I waited over 10 minutes at the bar to find out the beer taps weren't working.•The ladies toilet smelled like, and looked like they'd not been cleaned in a year.•I ordered a medium steak and it was severely well done.•My husband ordered chicken and it was undercooked.•The ginger haired guy that served us was very rude and appeared to be intoxicated.•When we left there was patrons sitting outside at the tables smoking drugs.•We definitely will never be back there again and definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Went there for dinner on a weekday and got a Beef Schnitzel. It tasted good, the sauce was free. There was plenty of seating inside and outside. 23 dollars

This place has potential, but it's major flaws are evident from the moment you walk in. First off, in 14 degrees, the doors are wide open and the heater wasn't on. When an elderly man complained they didn't turn it on but closed the doors instead. Then the food: the schnitzels were bland, with bad salad dressing and NO SALT on the chips. The biggest gripe I have is... They could be so much better! The bar and staff were lovely and chic. The look of the place is actually nice, and the beers on tap were varied and interesting. I could go there again in the future if they improved food and customer care about 20%, it's that close to being in competition with their neighbours.

Definitely not worth a visit, its got to be the most run down and poorly managed hotel I’ve been to.There was hardly anyone there at all.The TAB is shut down. The fridges were poorly stocked. There was cockroaches crawling on the bar.The barstaff were openly engaging in conversation about their wages and super not being paid.I would say it won’t be long before they go belly up.I highly recommend going somewhere else

I’m new to Adelaide and they have one of the best chicken schnitzel I’ve tried.

I can’t speak for the overall dining experience of this “pub”; however, I can summarize the function room and overall service of this place with a few words: Unorganised and Woeful.I recently had a friends engagement party here and was appalled by the service and treatment both the hosts and guests received. From a guest’s perspective there was minimal staff service and no support offered from the owner/function coordinator of this hotel as majority of the night the hosts of the party were trying to find the staff to cater and provide essentials that were promised. The food was nothing worth raving about as the function food was either cold pizza, they bought from down the road or a party box of finger food from the local Coles, which by the way was carelessly dumped upon a table by the staff and left with no warning, so family members were seen walking around handing out the food themselves. As I understand there were multiple errors surrounding drink pricing by the staff, despite it being agreed upon days earlier by the host that subsidized drinks were the way they wanted to go. Drinks were clearly bought from the local bottle shop the day of the event as the staff were unloading cartons on the night and most drinks were room temperature, this would not have been an issue if the owner had hooked up the kegs to the bar like promised, but this was not done along with many other types of drinks simply not able to be found despite the hosts running around asking staff during the event.I can say in confidence that the day before the room was a bombsite and not a single thing was organised, and it was filthy from a previous event earlier that week and the hosts spent hours cleaning this room to get it to an acceptable state. As for on the night I wouldn’t say the room was clean as there were many flaws such as the general smell of smoke in the room and the men’s bathroom where holes in the wall and cubical door were left from a prior event, despite the host being assured that would be repaired. All I can say is that the owner of the venue over-promised, didn’t deliver and was seemingly no where to be found when his assistance or services were required, leaving his staff to face the mess he had made of which I will forever be thankful for the handful of staff that tried to help. So, if you are planning a function and thought the commercial hotel was the place, I suggest you keep looking or do it in your own backyard, because it’ll be cheaper than what the owner will charge you and you’d probably do a better job too.And if the owner ever reads this review, I have this to say; a pub with no beer is like a business owner that hides from his customers, both aren’t very successful.
