On a Monday found one of the staff extremely unhelpful when needing help with the computer. Won't be going there on a Monday again. I've lived in Castlemaine for 30 years and never had a bad experience before.

Absolutely marvelous place! The book wind in the willows helped with my technological assignment it really really helped me build my first custom water cooled pc my cpu is overclocked now because the three little pigs novel was soooooo useful I really enjoyed this library

A neat and tidy public library with good sitting areas and friendly staff. Situated right on the centre of town close to cafes, shops and banks.

A marvellous historic building, beautifully reinterpreted, and valuable community resource...ruined, however, by rude, unhelpful, narcissistic staff members whose egos would better be served by careers in the world of corporate and (de)construction...is it just too easy to qualify as a librarian in the 21st century?

The Castlemaine Library in the historic (1857) Mechanics Institute building is a fantastic regional library and as well as daily and local newspapers, magazines, a large collection of books, talking books and DVDs, it has free wifi so you can take your own laptop with you. There is also copying and printing facilities available. The events and workshops held at the library are also well worthwhile attending and the seed library is a great idea too.
