Lake Mountain

We were fortunate to get there early and had a good snow play before the bus load of tourists arrive at about 10am. Huge queues after this for equipment hire in particular. Food is majority deep fried, so bring snacks or have a hearty breakfast at the base of the mountain prior. Hire shops are also at the bottom of the mountain and the staff are so friendly. Tube run seems a bit short. Flying Fox is $25 for two goes, but you can’t split the two goes, which is a bit frustrating (and pricey) for families. A great mountain for snow play.

If you love snow you should visit this place. It does have a resort if you want to stay or just go for a day trip . 3 hrs drive from Melbourne. A little track will make this trip more adventurous.If you are with kids you can still enjoy the snow and play around and do skiing or boarding activities.

The Mountain is nice. Natural and Man made snow on slopes. Great for kids and snow play, plenty of snow gear for hire. They offer good lesson deals. The cafe offerings are basic and over priced in my opinion. Nice walks to the summit and cross country skiing away from resort is a great option. Close to the city and plenty to see on the way back down the mountain around the Yarra Valley.

From the main carpark at the end of the road its around 1 kl to this sign. On the way up its steepish to start and then just a steady climb to finish. Not too far from the summit there is a short diversion off to the right which gives views out towards Marysville. There are a few view spots on the summit and another short walk to an alpine lookout heading off to the left from the front of the sign. All the tracks tend to go over Bolders at some points but no real difficulty if you take your time. The views can be obscured by low cloud so pick a high cloud day. There is a longer loop walk at the summit also but can't comment. We didn't do it. Exhilarating walk on top of the Mountain and well worth while.

Nice and cold in winter. Snow all around. Bit costly for entrance. Peek is in end of June to mid July. Lake Mountain's summit itself is accessible only by a snow shoe track in winter

I came here on July and this is the closest place you can enjoy snowfall and snow play . Not for snowboarding or skiing. But if you want to do the cross country ski, you can do so! Haven’t met any staff as they are shortage of manpower but food and coffee is nice. SIDE NOTE: please pre book before coming, else you have to walk all the way up 15KM

This is the second time that I have been here. This place is easy to access, beautiful asmosphere and lots of activities. Dont forget to buy a ski lesson, the staffs are super friendly to guide us how to ski properly. The thing that I like the most is that this place wasnt crowded, so it made a fantastic day out with my love one. Great memories!

Worth the drive and a hike along the tracks. Pretty part of Victoria.
