My mum has been there 12 months and I could not be happier with the facility and the care they give. They treat my mum like a family member and are always respectful and kind. The social activities are engaging and there is such a variety of things they do to always keep them busy. The nursing staff and carers are stable staff who get to know the residents and this is important for consistency of care.Management is always available to discuss any issues and I've had no problem in resolving small issues.I walk away in full confidence my mum is receiving excellent care.if there is any small issue they call me asap to advise.very happy.most of all my mum is happy and has lots of friends to chat with all day long.

My parents both resided at Anzac Lodge for several years, moving there from Bendigo in 2006. They had rooms next to each other in Carmel Wing, something they very much appreciated at the time. In 2008 my father had to move to high care and with this being just down the corridor, it meant my siblings and I could still visit both parents and take them to see each other. My father passed away in 2009 and my mother continued to live there until December 2017 when she also passed away. I was very happy with the care they both received for all of these years. If we ever had any complaints, and what family doesn’t, the staff responded in good time and did what they could to alleviate any concerns. The staff treated both my parents with respect, treating them more like family than ‘residents’. While others have noted the high turnover of staff, there are also many there who had been working right from when my parents first arrived. Aged care is a difficult world to inhabit, and under the circumstances, the majority of people do the best they can. I miss the daily interactions with staff and seeing how fond they were of my mother. I felt fortunate that Anzac Lodge was her last resting place. She didn’t want to go to hospital for her final days, and Anzac Lodge accommodated her wishes thoughtfully and sensitively.

We have 3 family members currently living at Anzac lodge, all with different needs, and therefore different experiences. Overall, we are very happy at Anzac lodge, and feel comfortable that our family members are well cared for.We visit once a week, taking in a big bag of goodies for them to enjoy. The parking can be a little hectic sometimes, but the checkin process is straightforward, the staff know us well, and we are given access to enable a quicker checkin and entry.Anzac are always communicative, whether it be about specific issues like a family member having a fall, or there being a covid outbreak. The email communication is clear, consistent and honest. The first family member to move into Anzac lodge was my grandfather in law, who moved in during the peak of covid lockdowns. We honestly took a leap of faith, hoping they would be a good fit. Initially, it was tricky to find the right balance of meeting the aged care facility standards and requirements, but also making things comfortable for him. For example, my grandfather insisted on wanting to sleep in his recliner chair overnight, and therefore having no bed in his room, so we managed to achieve that outcome by buying the right chair, and signing a document with Anzac to acknowledge the risks and proceed with the chair accordingly. My grandfather in law has settled in, has his regular music afternoons for the other residents, where he plays his cassettes for everyone, and is engaged in a number of activities, particularly the outings for coffee and cake. He has complained about there being ‘too much Italian food’, but every time I’ve visited and seen the menu, there have been non-Italian/pasta options. I’ll also note that the food is really nice - I’ve enjoyed a number of lunches there. I’ll also note that the occupational therapist Leanne has made a huge difference in her work with my grandfather in law, he is far more mobile now, than he was 5yrs ago.Next up is my grandmother in law, who moved into Anzac after a fall in Jan 2023. Anzac were very accommodating, made sure they had a room near her husband, and went out of their way to make her feel welcome. Granma likes to spend lots of time in bed, so Anzac have put a special air mattress on her bed, to avoid pressure sores, but also still encourage her to keep getting up and moving around as much as possible.Granma knew Anzac very well before she moved in, so there were no surprises about how things were run, but she’s pleasantly surprised that they always manage to get her cup of tea order right.Last is my grandmother, who has only just moved into Anzac a few wks ago. Her moving in process has been straightforward, and she’s settled in well, albeit with a covid outbreak happening at the facility atm. We’re excited for her to settle in, and to be able to use the facilities and engage in activities soon.

Mum was very reluctant to come into care in the beginning. But only in the matter of two to three weeks I saw a drastic change in my mum’s happiness for the better. I always saw her with a smile on her face when she was here. I wish I had taken her into care years earlier. The staff were great from the carers, the nurses to the management. Everyone was great and took care of my mother and was always attentive to family members including myself.I’m really and grateful to have seen mum happy for the last couple years of her life. Words cannot describe how appreciative I am of Anzac Lodge. Thank you

I called to organise a tour of the place, before we had even gone to see it they accepted my dads code which locked out other providers from seeing his details (super dodgy and predatory behaviour). I asked them to revoke it which they did, a week later they had accepted it again without even any communication between us. This delayed my dad getting the care that he needed. Staff were rude when trying to speak to them about this matter.Stay well awayEDIT AFTER RESPONSE:This is a very interesting response given every other provider I spoke to (over 10) advised me that they are able to view the referral codes without accepting them. More lies from a disreputable facility. I indicated to Lynn after the first time that you locked them that accepting it locks other providers out, although she did it anyway. Why is it that your staff do not know how to view it without accepting it? Sounds to me like it’s either incompetence or insufficient training, either way I wouldn’t want my loved one to be in a facility run by incompetent people or people with insufficient training.

CARMELO Barbante64 points2 days agoThe Administration staff is overall absolutely incompetent. There is a high turnaround of administration staff and care staff and the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing so to speak. Anzac Lodge should be investigated in relation to the following:1. Qualifications of care workers.2. Over medicating high care residents so that they remain doped up and do not require being cared for.3. Not adequately attending to personal hygiene of residents who can remain soiled for hours on end.4. Overprescribing medication and not adequately accounting to the relatives of residents or to their legal guardians as to the cost of medication.5. Failing to explain and investigate the disappearance of brand new unused clothing and other products purchased by relatives. Anzac Lodge dismisses the disappearance of items as being due to theft by residents and dismissing the possibility of theft by employees.6. Most employees including administration staff speak inadequate English and cannot be be understood .7. Quality of food is sub standard.Anzac lodge should be completely disregarded as a nursing home for your loved ones. Anzac Lodge is hopelessly incompetent. Anzac Lodge cannot be trusted with the welfare of your loved ones.My warning to all is to carry out your due diligence and look elsewhere for a nursing home for your loved ones.POST SCRIPT NOTE:The response below from Anzac Lodge is self serving, misleading and meaningless. The action of Anzac Lodge and how it conducts its business do not align with the reply appearing below. You will be making a dreadful mistake of having your loved ones admitted to Anzac Lodge. Don’t make the same mistake I made putting my deceased mother into Anzac Lodge.************************Response from the owner 13 hours agoHi Carmelo,Thank you for taking the time to express your experience although it saddens us to hear that you didn’t feel we delivered to your expectations. Our team are dedicated professionals who are passionate about aged care, we stand firm to believe we deliver excellent care and service. We value feedback greatly and would like to extend an invitation to you to visit our facility to discuss and address any concerns you had during your mothers stay between 2016-2019.Warm RegardsAnzac Lodge Nursing Home*
