DO YOU HAVE A MINUS STAR? I have been a customer of Whitworths since they were Miller & Whitworths (45+ years). I have (and do) owned a number of boats and vehicles so consider myself to have been a very profitable customer.BUT --- in recent years, when attempting to return or exchange anything (usually wrongly boxed) I have been met with a solid wall of obstruction. The latest and final transaction was for a 3500 lb / 1600 k capacity electric trailer winch - recommended and well suited to its required task. Having installed the winch on my trailer I proceeded to pull my 650 kilo (including motor) boat from 300 diameter inflatable rollers on the ground onto my boat trailer - incline was about 20 degrees (ie stated load pulling capacity 3000 lbs)The motor of the winch failed about 1/3 way through the exercise after making a series of nasty grinding noises. I contacted the Manager of Whitworths Head Office who spoke to me with absolute contempt basically accusing me of being an idiot and stating that it was all my fault for overloading the winch. In fact I am an engineer and well experienced in all things mechanical.Return of failed winch was refused !!Whitworths are really that miserable. All of my future purchases will be elsewhere.
