We LOVED this gem of place nestled quietly beside the river. The food and service were fantastic. We first came in on a very busy night but the wait for the food was worth it while we enjoyed drinks from the bar. Our second visit on our short stay in the area we arrived early (before the rush) and got to know the staff and their suggestions of what to see in the area as well as the very interesting history of the pub and its gorgeous rebuild. Look forward to visiting this place again next time we are in the area.

Great pub with beautiful setting and super friendly staff. Meals are generally very good but the Thai Beef salad was like the beef got dropped on (and over cooked) after the salad was made and lacked any integration with the dish. The polenta chips were delicious but $16 a bit steep for a side dish. Beers were a good range but would like less commercial stuff and more true craft.

One of the best pubs I've ever been to.Great food (smoked salmon and punkah burger).Accommodating service.Beautiful atmosphere.Kids and I loved looking at the fish tank in restrooms.Keep it up.

As a semi regular over many long years I had recommended the Punkah pub to our large party celebrating a 50th birthday. We had 25 guest with most travellers coming from interstates).I had booked months in advance and was informed we would have our dinner in a private room. Upon arrival, my daughters were told that the table setting had been requested as children on 1, women another, men on the 3rd. This was a lie and the first disappointment for the night.We also did not have a private room but were placed at the rear of the dining area.All diners except 3 (2 salmon, 1 curry) were not happy with their meals as they were tasteless, overcooked, or cold when served.1 patron even had to remind staff of his meal 20 minutes after everyone else had theirs, and then go and collect it himself.We had expected to enjoy our evening there but walked away unsatisfied.Terrible service all around and I will not return nor recommend the Punkah pub to anyone ever again.

Had lunch here on a busy Saturday with the missus, very friendly and enjoyable time we had, bar staff were very quick and helpful, we opted for inside dining and were given a lovely spot, food was delicious and very quick arriving, I had the forest floor Gnocchi and was the best pasta dish I've had in a long time, the missus had the fish and chips and was cooked perfect too. Prices were very reasonable in our opinion.

Visitors from Melbourne and this place was recommended to us for dinner.Not disappointed but important to book a table.Busy.Staff lovely,atmosphere warm and comfortable.Meals a good size,good value and tasty.The calamari and salmon beautiful.The ginger dumplings yum.Lots of wine and beer varieties.Well worth a visit.

Looks great and nice location across from the Ovens River. Overpriced if you want to purchase take away alcohol better to go into Bright for that. Have had a meal here and found it not cooked to my liking and not as described on menu so haven’t had another meal here.

I would start with saying it was lovely and amazing! Great food and vibe is you’re looking something in Bright. I came from Melbourne for 2 nights and went here on last night,regretted to not come before. Everything is soo amazing. The prawn and garlic dumplings, parma, veggie burger and the garlic bread. Super kind and friendly staff! It is a must. The prices are also not very high! Great food good vibe!
