My husband, a C5 quadriplegic, was in this facility for several months before being transferred to hospital where he died. In my experience only one member of the administration staff, Jenny, knew anything about what went on there. The foyer of the building looked great but upstairs was a different story. Long lengths of timber on the floor were a definite hazard. Trying to find a nurse to talk to was almost impossible. But they certainly knew how to charge. They made sure I paid up on time. But it has not worked the other way. I am still owed money for almost a week 's accommodation that I had paid in advance before he was transferred to hospital where he died. In spite of having his own wheelchair my husband never left the room so never met any of the other residents other than the man in the same room who could not talk. He never participated in any activities. Other than when family visited the high point for him was when he had a bath. This facility was not my first choice but was chosen because by our children because it was close to home so I did not have to travel far.I have not been impressed.

My Nan has been cared for at a level far exceeding expectation since arriving. We visit weekly and are always heartened to see the sincere consideration and respect shown to my nan. She is very loved and the compassionate care extended to her is second to none.

This place is a disaster waiting to happen. Delivery trucks blocking up emergency drop off/pick up bay. Car Park out of control, no parking for visitors, as taken up by staff. Good luck if someone needs a ambulance. They might have to park at Aldi, and push the bed for 2kms. No off street parking, as all is No stopping.

That last comment needs to be removed. Quakers Hill was a wonderful Nursing home that served a wonderful purpose in taking care of the Aged and younger people with disabilities. We are thankful to God for the beautiful staff that helped our dear dad (at home with the Lord)and other residents. They were angels. That day is etched in our minds; a nightmare, a tragedy, and senseless loss of lives. Our hearts are still broken and this tragedy will leave scars forever.. <3

I was a student completing my work placement at this facility. I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely recommend doing your volunteering or work placement here. The residents were beyond friendly and easy to communicate with. The Staff were lovely and easy to communicate with as well. I participated in many activities and events that took place in this facility, which were amazing. I really do appreciate the staff for making me feel comfortable and welcomed. Thank you for this opportunity!!

My Experience at Quakers Hill Nursing Home was like a rollercoaster to begin with. There were lots of issues when my Dad first arrived at Quakers Hill. staffing, My Dads needs not being met, food issues, toileting and communication issues to name a fewMy Dad was a resident requiring high care and was very set in his ways. He had a very unhealthy diet and really found it hard to like things on the menu. I use to get very frustrated when staff were constantly moved around as you start to build up relations as these people were looking after your loved ones and then they were not back on shift in our area for a week. There seemed to be lots of communication problems between staff and management and families and staff were always run off their feet. In my opinion and what I experienced like in all professions you get some people that go above and beyond their duty and others that are quite happy to sit back and watch. Management turnover was constant in the first couple of years. Myself and my family had lots of meeting with management over the 3 years.I must say that the manager now Mary Barnier is Brilliant. She has really changed the way the facility operates. Mary is from the old school of nursing. She is extremely compassionate and caring and highly qualified and knowledgeable and has lots of experience and ideas. Management now - Mary Barnier is very approachable and willing to hear both positive and negative feedback so she can address concerns/ issues and find a solutions. Since Marys appointment at Quakers Hill I found the quality of care improve a great deal with meetings to address my concerns very minimal. This was also due to the time and care taken by Mary to visit and talk to residents on a daily basis and not sit behind a desk in the office. I found this a great way to build relations with residents and families so as we all worked together for the care of our loved ones. If she was in her office the door was always open for a chat. The facility is new, modern and lots of different areas and as long as you checked with management we were able to celebrate special occasions with Dad as a whole family on the premises. They management and staff were very accommodating.I found it’s a great multi-cultural facility celebrating different cultural days throughout the year. Happy hour on a Friday with some music was one of my Dads favourite times. They have bus outing to local picnic areas too. They have rabbits out the back downstairs for animal lovers. Volunteers that come the facility like the local high school students and Denis was something my Dad always looked forward to. My Dad loved being pushed up the service station to buy a pie or ice cream or to Aldi to buy chocolates.Toward the end of my Dads life I found the facility of very high standard and professional. The staff and management were very compassionate and would do anything to help my Dad be pain free with dignity. The emotional bond staff and management had with my Dad and myself will never be forgotten. Many residents’ don’t have regular visitors and that’s when these staff step up and be there for your loved ones the best way they can. These people are with your loved ones more than we are and they are trying to make is pleasurable for all.I would definitely recommend this facility to other families. (believe me I looked any heaps and heaps and I can count on one hand the ones that I actually would put a loved one in)
