Royal Hotel Dungog

Best Pub stay I’ve ever experienced. Pub has been beautifully renovated. Food was excellent. Live music on Friday night just topped it off. Well done Howard and co. We’ll be back soon for certain!

The Royal is the only place we have never stayed in Dungog, until now. A group of six stayed there on a Saturday night. The greeting on arrival was excellent and it only got better. The single rooms are small but very well appointed, air conditioned and a large ceiling fan. The bed was very comfortable and to top it off the powerpoint behind the bedside table had two USB ports!We arrived just before the 4-6 happy our was over and we were allowed to order in advance as we were going for showers. The shared showers were like nothing we had ever seen before in a country hotel. They would not have been out of place in a 5 star hotel.A great range of beers including craft beers on tap. The lamb loin was sensational and very large, lots of other choices on the menu. All of the staff and one of the owners, Howard, obviously were so friendly. The Royal showed the love with the extensive renovations that had been done. To cap it off there is a huge lockup garage for motorcycles or mountain bikes, we will be back.

A great hotel for the price! This is not your old pub hotel, it’s much much better.It’s clean, neat and the staff are lovely. Try and stay the night a live folk gig is on and you won’t have to walk very far to go to bed.Food is great too. Can highly recommend!

Today we had the most pleasant pub experience we've ever had. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door by a welcoming & friendly staff member. Our lunch meal was more like restaurant quality than a pub feed, Absolutely outstanding! The staff, Including the chef took time to come out & have a chat with the patrons to make sure we were happy with our meals. They also enjoyed chatting about the history of The pub & how they came to be working in the town of Dungog, Many of whom had made a massive tree change from city life to country life. Thank you Royal Hotel Dungog for keeping good old country hospitality alive! See you again soon!

What a bonza gem to come across in a beaut old town.Beautifully & tastefully restored / updated in every respect. Loved the art-deco furniture and recreations throughout bar restaurant accomm etc. fantastic common rooms, and shared bathrooms were beaut too. Loved the wallpaper.The two Chaps running it are polite & personable & welcoming. And, Latisha was great in the bar plus showing me varieties of accomm too! People like her are worth quartz of diamonds.Loved itDamien BastockMosman

I have had numerous meals their. I never been disappointed. Beautiful dining room with an open fire.

Well worth the visit. A spacious, cozy refurbished hotel/pub/bistro. Full of character and charm. The owners are attentive to guests and taken the time to refurbish the rooms now with new marble sinks and fresh decor. The bathroom is only a few steps across the room but also very clean and comfortable to use. We enjoyed a large group gathering lunch there and the service was friendly, attentive and pleasant. All the meals looked appealing and are so reasonably priced. Plus the desserts are professionally made and recommended. Overall, we recommend a visit your sure to be impressed.

A historic hotel that has been sympathetically renovated & upgraded. A comfortable & great place for our group of 16 to stay with a nicely furnished upstairs lounge area. A bonus was the curry dinner on Saturday night by a Newcastle chef & then lunch in the dining room on Sunday

Well worth a visit if you are looking for the authentic country pub experience. The pub has recently been restored back to its former art decc glory. The staff are really friendly and always happy to help out.

Definitely got the Royal treatment here and in the Royal Suite! Service, food and rooms all wonderful and THE best wallpaper staircase. Couldn't have been happier!
