My wife and I engaged Shawn Godwin from Base to design our seaside retirement home and I am happy to report that we were delighted, not only with the finished product but the entire process. We love our home and would not change a thing. Shawn was able to incorporate most of our grand ideas despite the restricted budget. We researched other architects at the time, but chose Shawn because of his enthusiasm and professionalism.

Shawn and his team at Base made the whole process of renovating as smooth as possible. From the very first consultation until the final stages Shawn listened to our requirements, came up with great ideas and as a result we have a house that we couldn't be happier with. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them and would definitely use them again myself.

This was our first experience with an architect having previously designed and built with a 'home designer/draftsperson' with variable results. We had heard many stories from friends and colleagues about both positive and negative experiences with architects and we were recommended Base Architecture by two friends who had used them for their own homes. So how did it go?We have just moved into our new home and we love it! We have learnt a lot through the process about light, colour, texture and the influence of good design on making living spaces a pleasure to be in. Shawn and the team at Base designed our family home with the way we live in mind. With a family of six to keep happy, the living spaces were always going to be key. The design works beautifully and we particularly love the kitchen/deck area that opens up to a large livable space. We are also very happy with the excellent use of louvers and windows in the right places to ensure great natural ventilation throughout the home. The professional and friendly manner in which the whole team conduct themselves is an absolute credit to Shawn and all the Base staff. We are really happy with the outcome and would be delighted to recommend Base Architecture.

Simply blew my mind!! The team at Base designed our dream outdoor room. The design phase was inspiring, no fuss, creative and clever. I remember looking through the first design (which ultimately did not really change) and being totally blown away!! the level of detail in the deign and input into the materials and fittings was exceptional. They held our hand through the tendering phase and liaised with the builders on a few practical issues during the construction phase...really easy to work with! A nice touch was making one of the balustrades thicker to turn it into a slim(ish) bench for drinks...Shawn confessed he got this idea from a bar he went to a few years back!! We're now inspired to make the house as classy as our outdoor room...oh and they were conscious of our budget and helped us maximise each dollar!!!

My wife and I worked with BASE on a character listed property in 2009. They were given the job of adhering to the areas strict character codes whilst working within the confines of a narrow block with a long list of requirements for our perfect family home. We consulted three architects for this project and Shawn's proposal was by far the best and in keeping with our brief.Shawn and the team at BASE have an ability to listen to a clients needs moreso than other architectural firms that I've dealt with over the years. We have lived in BASE designed home for four years and could not be happier with the design, functionality and layout. I used Base's services to design a high end townhouse development and the outcome exceeded my expectations. The final design suited the site perfectly and allowed for the largest possible houses.I had to return to Base to request a few amendments due to unrelated circumstances and Base were nothing but helpful in working with me to get the amendments completed in the shortest amount of time possible.Base were a pleasure to work with and I commend them for their customer service.
