The initial landscaping of this complex involved the planting of 5000 indigenous, but not endemic, plants. The Community installed them.Thereafter the site was raked to maximise any wareting. Each plant had a bowl or recess cut to again max water retention. There was no irrigation .The adjacent sprinklers on the oval were rotated to irrigate the banks where grevillea ground covers had been planted. The other areas were irrigated using drippers. However town water had to be used. This has a low pressure. That meant only one area had to be watered. That involved moving hoses and monitoring. The entire area was mulched and had to be mulched again.Initially NPK fertiliser was used. Then GrowSmart Fertiliser was found to be more effective as it contains microorganisms that rejuvenate the soil. Sandier soil was foundcto be more effective. The Compacted areas that vwere broken up beforehand had better drainage and growth. The plants are now more or less self sufficient but benefit from pruning some fertilising.A top soil chosen had two issues It was invested with Leshenaultia and massive need to weed resulted. The soil was also resistant to water. It was topsoil from Albany. The establishment of the grounds took a massive effort to be successful and not lose the financial investment of thousands of plants and all the benefits of vegetation.
