Evans Head Heritage Aviation Museum (F111 Museum)

The F111 museum in Evans Head is a fantastic aviation museum that has a wide range of military aircraft on display. The centre piece of course is a lovingly restored F111, but many other aircraft from different eras are also on display. I especially liked that adults and kids can enter some of the exhibits and experience the sometimes cramped conditions inside old military aircraft, to get a sense of all the buttons, dials and instruments. Our four year old daughter loved the Caribou!The museum also offers information panels, specs, history and other interesting items that relate to the aircraft, RAAF history and the Evans Head Aerodrome.The museum is run entirely by knowledgeable and kind volunteers and we were lucky enough to get a tour of the F111 with Joel who used to work on this type in the RAAF. He has a wealth of knowledge and many interesting anecdotes to tell about this plane. Definitely visit here when you're in the area!

Fantastic way to spend an hour or two. The volunteers do a great job looking after a great collection of plans and history.They would sell more shirts if they showed the back.

Our guide Joel could actually fly a plane. What knowledge he had so made an exceptional guide. Well worth a visit. Every Aussie should visit and be proud.

For a small admission fee it's worth a visit just to see the F111.The museum provides information about the WW2 airstrip that was stationed at Evans Heads.There are a couple of military aircraft see and for a fee you can have a guided tour or a photo in the F111.

Great aviation museum. Manned by locals who are knowledgeable and great to chat to. The piece de resistance is the F111 A8-147. It is in excellent shape and and this is the closest I have ever been to one. The Caribou was interesting to walk through. The Canberra bomber and flight trainer great exhibits. Well worth a visit.

Wow! We were in the area and went past the sign and decided to go in - and were not disappointed! I didn't think I was very interested but that changed quickly! I thoroughly enjoyed it - my hubby and 10yr daughter absolutely loved it too.Highly recommend. We were lucky enough to have Simon (a volunteer there) tour us around, explaining different parts of the planes and wars to us. It was only $7.50 pp. We also got a photo inside the f1 11 for $20 which was well worth sitting in there ans experiencing it!

30 mins with their volunteer Tim was a fantastic experience and not long enough. A fount of knowledge, super enthusiastic with great delivery. Highly recommended!!!

EXCELLENT!! I would highly recommend stopping into here. The F1-11 on display was interesting along with the Carribou and other early planes. The team there are very informative and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our visit here.
