Raymond Island
a truly amazing experience to see these cute guys in their own habitat, sleeping & hiding behind euca leaves. very lucky to be able to spot them up close with some sitting at lower part of trees. the island itself is beautiful, there's plenty of spots where you can just sit & watch the sunset. the ferry to cross the lake into the island is free as foot passenger.

BEAUTIFUL spot! There are loads of koalas sleeping in and eating the trees. The ferry across from Paynesville is free for carless humans and runs very, very frequently. We had such an amazing afternoon here.

Go and see the lovely koalas sleeping in the trees all over the island. We spent a magical hour or two strolling the streets, koala spotting. An extra bonus was the little ferry from Paynesville which is free and only takes about 2 minutes.

It was really fun! The ferry goes back and fourth, and only takes about 2 minutes to get to the island. You can take your car for a fee otherwise it’s free. We went on foot. The whole island only takes about 20 min to walk it’s really easy and all flat dirt/gravel. We saw lots of koalas on the trail and even a few roos. I didn’t really see mosquitoes or get bitten so maybe I came on a good day? It’s dog friendly too so we brought the dog. Quite a few people also bring their dogs. If you bring your dog make sure to bring bags to clean up after them.

I only saw koalas and birds - no other animals outside of that. But that was enough for me. It was so amazing to see the koalas in the wild just living life

We love this place. Sure there are mosquitoes, but the sprays take care of that. It's so beautiful and the sunsets are sublime. The koalas, the roos, echidnas, birds are wonderful, and the walks are excellent. Little beaches, boardwalks, surrey rides and the fabulous ferry that putters backwards and forwards all day, make for a very relaxing place. Repeat visitors here!

An island with many koalas to see! Walk further inland to the short trail with many eucalyptus trees around. That is where more koalas reside. Recommend taking the ferry as a pedestrian and not taking the car on the ferry if just visiting for a short while as pedestrians travel free. Unfortunately some visitors with cars were stuck on the island when we were there as the ferry suddenly ceased operations for whatever technical issues and the replacement boat only took people across.

A beautiful island with so much wildlife! Aside from lots of koalas, there's also lots of colourful birdlife and kookaburras. Some great photo opportunities and it's only a short hop on the ferry, which is $13 for cars and free for bikes and foot passengers. Parking and public toilets available on Raymond Island as soon as you get off the ferry.

We found 14 koalas on Raymond Island, a total bliss. Loved our experiences there. If you love animals, you should definitely visit this place.
