Alex Wilkie Nature Reserve
Beautiful remnant bushland, plenty of interesting plants, insects and birdlife. Lovely peaceful spot.

Alex Wilkie Nature Reserve
Could walk around the whole thing in about 20 mins, has some interesting sculptures, native plant and wildlife information tablets as you walk around. As I was walking I heard a rumble in the bush and out popped a fox that quickly disappeared when it saw me. Didn't see any blue tounge lizards but hope to see one next time. Also didn't see any frogs in the frog pond.

Alex Wilkie Nature Reserve
Open Fridays and every third Sunday of the month. Great little walkway and path. Very well maintained. Takes about 15 to 30 minutes to walk around. Felt like a mini bushwalking trip. Great to see in Springvale south. There is an information centre with a friendly staff member. Would love to have more extended opening hours!

It's a park. Fenced off but there is a small bit of land either side so you can still get up to no good. Used to be a few homeless people can't see signs of homeless campers or communal rooting spots like there once was.

Doesn’t feel like I’m in the middle of suburbia at this beautiful nature reserve. Birds calling and unique native bushland make it feel like a real wild escape.Update: I think some reviewers have confused Alex Nelson Reserve (adjacent to Nature Reserve) with Alex Wilkie Nature Reserve. Alex Wilkie Nature Reserve is a BUSHLAND RESERVE and a CONSERVATION area. There is no room to run, and no formal playground. The reserve isn't open every day because it is only open when rangers are in attendance. Check the Greater Dandenong website for opening hours.

Awesome little treasure the Alex Wilkie Nature Reserve is it's wonderful how the Park Rangers have preserved in it's natural habitat. A beautiful haven for the local bird life...Captured below are some dragonflies from today's visit..

Alex Wilkie Nature Reserve
This is a stunning reservation of the original bushland in the middle of suburbia. It is fenced but left unlocked. It is so untouched that there are signs warning about snakes and how to avoid trouble by backing off. Bandicoots existed here till the 1980s just after Springvale South was developed. There is an Education Centre and a BBQ area but it is looking sad after two years of COVID. Lockdowns.The magnificent carvings out of logs are waiting to be photographed.

A nature reserve that all members of the family can enjoy. Maintained by a dedicated Bush Crew, Alex Wilkie Nature Reserve provides an interpretive centre suitable for all ages, interesting nature trails and space for a picnic afterwards. Don't hesitate, visit soon!

This is a great nature walk. Check out the opening hours on the picture, it may not be open when you think. There is a playground outside the fenced area towards Springvale Road.
